  • Pub site a 15-minute drive from Macclesfield and the Peak District
  • Biddulph Grange Garden 15 minutes’ drive; Alton Towers 35 minutes
  • Home-cooked pub fare; beer garden with views; children’s playground
Are you keen to test your hiking mettle on some challenging trails, but equally keen on relaxing in the evening with a nice pint of ale and some home-cooked food in the comfort of a traditional pub? You can combine your interests at Four Trees, a family- and dog-friendly site a 15-minute drive down the A523 from Macclesfield. This family- and dog-friendly site with grassy pitches sits next door to the Harrington Arms, a traditional community pub with a children’s playground and a beer garden from where you can admire the surrounding countryside and the hilly landscape of Peak District National Park in the distance. Epic treks await in the Peak District (15 minutes’ drive) – you might not complete the long-distance Pennine Way, for example, but surely even walking a handful of miles through moorlands and limestone dales will give you bragging rights with your mates. After a few days’ trekking, you might like to wind down with a spot of angling at Bosley Reservoir (five minutes), where you might catch pike and perch (be sure to contact the local fishing club for permits). While you wait for the big one to bite, keep your eyes peeled for Canada geese, buzzards and other birds. If you’d rather be on the water than on the shore, Rudyard Lake (15 minutes) has a lively sailing club where you can get a permit to launch your canoe or paddleboard (please note, there is no equipment for hire here). The site comes with a toilet block, showers, and a washing-up area with a drying room, plus chemical waste disposal.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Pub right next door to campsite, served food which was delicious . Small and quaint site which does met needs for campers though toilet & shower could do with sprucing up a bit.
Country side all around with nice walks.
Overall well worth the pitchfees.

Disliked: Apart from road noise all was well

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Unfortunately nothing. The noise from the road was awful never seemed to stop.
Really bad location as the sight is right next to the road.

Disliked: Toilet - queueing for one toilet 🤢
Noise from the very busy road

From the manager: Hello sorry to hear this but we do leave all reviews on our page good and bad to help inform people that the site is right on the side of the road and it also shows up on google maps, queuing for one toilet? There are 2 toilets, one on its own and one in the shower room both of which are in the same block

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Rien

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: A nice pub with nice food and views.

Disliked: The rest of the stay was not nice I’m afraid. Muddy pitch should have been hardstanding I had to put all my throws on the ground to soak up mud. And the noise from the A road was so loud and vibrated through the van no sleep for two nights it was Lorrie’s throughout the night. So sorry but will never stay again. Also could smell raw poo from the incinerator. It was way too expensive at £25 a night. I’ve stayed at much nicer places at less than that. Toilet facilities were very smelly too. I’m sorry to write this review but trying to be honest you need to spend money and time on the site but the noise I don’t know what you can do probably move it more inland instead of roadside.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Nice small site on the pitch. All fenced in, which was great for me as my son is autisic and is a little escape artist so nice not to worry about hin wandering while I was setting up the van.
Facilities clean and nice. Pub next door was great, staff really friendly and my son loved the outdoor play area.

I know alot of people complained about the traffic noise but if you're in a campervan/motorhome you barely notice it.

Local attractions

National Trust - Biddulph Grange Garden (15 minutes’ drive) was created in the mid-1800s. In addition to peaceful tree-shaded paths, there is a collection of rhododendrons and the colourful Dahlia Walk, plus themed areas like Egypt (with a topiary pyramid) and the China Garden. Alton Towers (35 minutes) has something for everybody, from vertiginous roller coasters and assorted thrill rides to the gentler, family-orientated attractions at CBeebies Land. On hot summer days, you might want to make a beeline for the waterpark, with its high-speed slides and lazy river. Crossed by canals, Stoke-on-Trent (40 minutes) is renowned for its potteries. Check out the collection of locally produced ceramics at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, where you can also admire the Staffordshire Hoard, a collection of gold and silver objects dating back to the Anglo-Saxon era. And be sure to have a go at the pottery wheel in one of several cafés and activity centres in town.
