  • Family-friendly Northumberland touring site with luxury facilities
  • Holy Island 25 minutes’ drive and Alnwick Castle 35 minutes
  • Soft-play centre and games field; restaurant and adults-only bar
Plush Ord House Country Park is set on 42 peaceful, tree-lined acres of private parkland at East Ord, within 10 minutes’ drive of gorgeous Northumberland countryside, historic Berwick-upon-Tweed and sandy Spittal Beach on the North Sea. It’s also easy to access for anyone travelling north or south, as the main A1 is just five minutes away. A whole bunch of facilities at this leafy, landscaped site will make life very easy for you indeed. Travelling with the kids? If your toddlers have energy to burn off, there’s a soft-play centre where they can have a run around, while older kids can keep busy on the playground, activity area and games field. If you’re after a bit of grown-up downtime, simply drift off to the elegant adults-only lounge bar for some peaceful R&R; otherwise head to the family-friendly main bar or book the informal Ord House Lounge Bar and Grill, where there’s a designated kids’ zone. Prettily landscaped pitches are all neatly delineated by clipped hedges. Practical on-site amenities include a laundry service with coin-operated washing machines and dryers, a dish-washing and veg-prep area, and pristine tiled showers in spacious family bathrooms with hair dryers and shaving points.

Liked: Lovely spotless site, fantastic shower and toilet blocks!!
Site club/restaurant lovely, food fabulous!!
Welcoming reception, receptionist very friendly and polite!!

Disliked: Have to pay for wi-fi, per device, starting at £4 for 24 hrs, not made aware of this until you look at information given at check-in.
Signal for TV rubbish!!
It appears that the site caters more for residential residents.
No shop on site, which we found strange as there isn't a shop near-by.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: The grounds were well maintained with good size, fairly level pitches. The bar looked nice from the outside but we didn't go in so can't comment further. No issues with checking in and the could of questions we had were answered quickly.

Disliked: Fortunately we had a large pitch which gave us some room. A lot of the other pitches looked crammed in with not much space between. While the toilet block itself was well maintained my fiancé found the women's toilets and showers dirty. Unfortunately this is a problem that doesn't seem confined to this site. The showers are the push button type which my fiance struggles with due to a condition with her wrists so we had to use the family bathroom where I could operate the shower for her, something to consider if you have similar issues. In contrast to the ladies facilities, this was always really clean and well looked after.

Sneak across the border into Scotland to potter around rooms stuffed with priceless Chippendale furniture at Palladian-era Paxton House (10 minutes), or make for Marchmont House to wander its wondrous gardens (half an hour). Spectacular Floors Castle (40 minutes) has a series of opulent apartments to discover, along with a walled garden and scenic walks along the River Tweed. Experiencing cultural overload? Sail forth onto the North Sea for dolphin-spotting expeditions or Farne Islands cruises to see puffins and seals from Seahouses (35 minutes). Happier on dry land? Stride out in Northumberland National Park (25 minutes), or play a round of golf – there are a couple of courses in less than 10 minutes’ drive.
