Liked: Small family run site, with great hospitality.
Location is great for access to local attractions such as Alnwick, Bamburgh Castle, Holy Island etc.
Clean facilities, regularly maintained.
Lots of wildlife to see.
Grass pitches are spacious - just ensure that you take grids/have all terrain tyres in case there’s a lot of rain.

Electric grass touring pitch
Liked: The location was perfect, for visiting the coast , toilets and showers very clean .
Disliked: This site only has grassed pitches so there are no hard standings for a motorhome , the grass was very boggy due to the amount of rain
We were asked to use a strip of hard standing between the pitches, which was not a pitch ( we paid for a pitch)it wasn’t very suitable , it is probably somewhere we wouldn’t visit again , we didn’t see the site owner.

From the manager: Hi Judith,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I appreciate that the grass was soggy, unfortunately that is pretty common in the middle of October in the UK unfortunately in Northumberland. I tried to see you during your stay and actually knocked on your camper door, however you were out exploring, which wasn’t an issue for myself at all and if you needed anything I was right at the end of the phone, as I spoke to you in person before you arrived. I appreciate you saying the hardcore was not a set pitch, you were more than welcome to park on a designated pitch like the roof top tent had done we had on, however in quite a large motorhome such as yourselves would have almost certainly got stuck and I was just trying to stop this from happening. I close the site down to 1 or 2 pitches at this time of year so that the hardcore road can be used if it is particularly wet - which it was during your stay due to the heavy rainfall we had recently. I think you would much prefer the site between the months of May-September with it being grass pitches. Sorry you don’t wish to visit our site again, we don’t often have that response from guests and anything we can try and change we certainly do our best to improve. We have considered hard standings before but so many of our guests come to us as we are grass pitches, however it is something we may consider in the future. Kind Regards, Katryna
Perfect for a little getaway.

Liked: What isn't there to like!
Amazing family ran site, immaculately kept, clean facilities, super communication from owner regarding a road closure. Spoke to her one evening with Sid (the teckel!) And she was super personable, engaging with both me and my girls. Ideally located for so many attractions. Felt like home from home and we will definitely be coming back!
Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: Doxford Farm is a lovely space with modest facilities that do the job nicely and some terrific views. We enjoyed a week there, and found our fellow campsites users to be a pleasant bunch.
The shower block has three cubicles with everything you'd need and they are kept nicely topped up.
The pitches are well spaced out and it's a nice chilled out atmosphere.
There's a nearby fairy/wood walk which is ideal for young kids and they had a few small chickens roaming around who often appeared when we weren't expecting them.
Disliked: It's only a small issue but the site is quite windy. We had some pretty windy days and the geography meant that the site got quite buffeted.
But hey, it's the weather, right?
Also, there's no wifi, but the 4g signal was reasonable, so another non issue for us.
