  • Cosy glamping pod with moorland views near Helmsley in North Yorkshire
  • Half an hour’s drive to Malton delicatessens and Flamingo Land Resort
  • Moorland walks from site; pub, cafés and shops 10 minutes’ drive
With truly spectacular panoramas over Bransdale Moor, near Helmsley in North Yorkshire, the glamping cabin at Bonnie View is set in a location embracing peace and natural beauty. Remote, romantic and cosily kitted out, it’s an oasis of calm for loved-up couples or indeed anyone seeking time alone. Set on a working farm also doubling as a horse-retirement home, The Niblet is a stylish and sustainably built wooden pod with a comfy living space – think oak flooring, a wardrobe and shelving for all your gear. A fully equipped kitchen comes with an oak worktop, and a shower room and loo are both cleverly inserted into the space. To keep you all toasty, The Niblet is insulated with sheep’s wool from the farm, and a double-glazed window gives you peeks of the North Yorkshire Moors right from your bed. By day, you can keep your eye on those fabulous moorland views or catch up on your favourite TV series from the comfort of the tartan chairs. A ladder accesses the sleeping area as well as extra storage above the door of the cabin. Outside, you can leap into the woodfired hot tub in the total privacy of your enclosed garden area (it comes with a picnic bench and firepit) and on clear nights, grab a glass of something fizzy and settle down to gaze up at the starry North Yorkshire skies. Shoulders down… it’s time to relax. A few extra details: there’s a wifi connection and electric heating. All bed linen and towels are provided, so all you need to bring is yourselves, a change of clothes and some grub. If you’d like to cook on site, pick up supplies in the handy store in Kirkbymoorside (10 minutes’ drive), and if you’d rather eat out, then the destination restaurants of North Yorkshire await.

The Niblet cabin

Liked: Absoloutely loved this place. It was perfect for me and my 6 yr old daughter.
We enjoyed the hot tub and spent all day hopping in and out of it.
My daughter particularly loved the horses and spent a lot of time with them as well as counting the endless rabbits in the field and looking at the lambs in the next field.

The views were out of this world. Pure silence, other than the wildlife.

The cabin was perfect and had everything we needed. I'm glad I read other reviews and didn't take more than I needed, as everything was provided, including gowns for the hot tub, and skewers for marshmallows.

Getting in and out of bed for a wee in the night was a lot of fun!

It was clean, comfortable and cosy with yorkshire tea bags waiting!

We were treated to seeing the new puppies in the barn, this was a highlight for both of us and we were very greatful to have been shown them, thank you!

We wandered down to the stream over the fields and had a paddle. Alicia fell in! We were blessed with beautiful weather so played outside to get dry :)

We will certainly be returning.

A perfect getaway.

Disliked: Not a thing!

The Niblet cabin

Liked: This is just the most amazing place we have already booked for a longer stay. The cabin is clean, cosy and well equipped and the views are stunning. It is so peaceful and remote the wildlife is a bonus, ex race horses, rabbits running around, sheep, red kites and of course the resident geese who are just so funny to watch. We loved every minute of our stay.

Disliked: Having to leave.

The Niblet cabin

Liked: Just got back from a 2-night stay with my little boy. Absolutely everything was wonderful: it was supplied with everything we needed, such as all kitchen utensils, pans, washing up liquid, hand wash, antibacterial wipes, toilet roll…the list goes on and on. I brought my own hairdryer but needn’t have bothered as there was one in the wardrobe for guests. Everything was immaculately clean and we felt so welcomed when we got there with our guest pack of tea, coffee, jam, Biscoff biscuits, and sugar.
The wifi was good and we enjoyed watching Netflix on an evening - what an unexpected treat!
The hot tub was nice and warm when we got there so we enjoyed that for a while.
I enjoyed building a fire the next day to warm it back up again and it got lovely and hot.
My son loved watching the wildlife and even got to pet a couple of the horses up close (over a gate - they were secured in a field). My personal highlight was the two ducks who we saw a few times over the three days we were there, following each other around the grounds 😍🥰
We had days out at Monk Park Farm, Eden Camp, and GoApe at Dalby Forest, which were all within 40 minutes distance of Bonnie View. We enjoyed all three experiences.
Even though we had wifi and Netflix, the stay still felt magical due to the peaceful and beautiful surroundings and we actually spent quality time together playing board games and toasting marshmallows on the fire pit (logs are supplied for fire pit and hot tub on an honesty box basis). I am hoping to get back here in the summer. Thank you so much to the hosts xx

Local attractions

For hiking amid birdlife, Bransdale Moor (accessed direct from the site) is open heather moorland designated a Special Site of Scientific Interest. If you tread quietly, and keep your eyes peeled, you might get to see rare birds like lapwings, comical oystercatchers, hen harriers and curlews (listen for their distinctive cries). The market town of Helmsley (10 minutes’ drive) turns up lots of indie shops, pubs, delis and takeaways – and a brewery if you’d like to try some local beers. Malton’s (half an hour) foodie reputation make it a great spot for compiling picnics to eat on the moors, while at Pickering (25 minutes), you can jump onto the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a steam-train ride through moorland scenery. The fabled North Yorkshire coastal town of Whitby has an eerie (Dracula-related) abbey to explore, while Scarborough (both 55 minutes) offers a day’s fun on the beach. If you’re after more adrenaline-fuelled activities, then head to Flamingo Land Resort (half an hour) for a whirlwind of rollercoasters and animal encounters.
