  • Smart Scandi-style glamping pods close to the North Yorkshire coast
  • Filey or Cayton Bay beach 10 minutes' drive; North York Moors 20 mins
  • Adults-only pods with private hot tub and Big Green Egg barbecue
If you head east from the village of Lebberston, you’ll get to the North Yorkshire coast after a couple of miles… and from there it’s out over the North Sea to the shores of Scandinavia. Given that link, perhaps it’s no surprise to find the spirit of Scandinavia thriving in this corner of North-West England. The smart Scandi-style adults-only glamping pods at The Hygge Out are designed to provide a fabulously comfortable and cosy experience for guests, whatever the weather. There’s a lot to enjoy in the outdoors around here – Filey, Scarborough and Cayton Bay beach are all within 15 minutes’ drive for coastal walks, beach times, surfing and sea swims, and the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park is similarly close by for walks and other alfresco activities. Whether the weather has left you sun-kissed or windswept, you’ll be able to wind down from the day back at your pod. Each one is spacious and well equipped, with its own kitchen area and ensuite bathroom as well as a comfortable bed and living area with a woodburning stove to keep things warm even in midwinter. Outside, the deck is the place to put your feet up and take in the views over the surrounding green fields – perhaps while sipping a cool drink in your wood-fired hot tub or tending to an alfresco dinner cooked on your Big Green Egg barbecue. A welcome pack with matches, firelighters, charcoal and one netted log is provided. If you want to use more of the woodburning facilities, you're welcome to bring your own fuel or pick up what you need from the on-site shop which takes cash only. Drinks, dinner ingredients and other essentials should be easy to find in the shops of Filey (10 minutes’ drive).

Comfort camping pod

Liked: The wooden pod was lovely and the log burner kept it nice and warm , friendly hosts

Disliked: The hot tub did not heat up very well so didn’t manage to use it after 2 attempts

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the wooden pod and that the log burner kept you warm. Your kind words about our hospitality means a lot to us.

We’re sorry to learn about the difficulties you experienced with the hot tub. Prior to your arrival, we offered our hot tub lighting service, which many guests find beneficial as it saves hours of stoking the firebox and includes the wood needed for heating. We also emphasised that you could reach out for assistance at any time.

Wood-burning hot tubs can require more effort to heat compared to electric models. We understand that this process might not suit everyone’s preferences, especially during the winter months. For guests seeking a more straightforward experience, accommodations with electric hot tubs might be more suitable.

We value your feedback and will continue to explore ways to improve our amenities.

Warm regards,

Michael Kent

Local attractions

The coast around here is lovely, with plenty of variety for visitors. Surfers will want to spend some time at Cayton Bay beach (10 minutes’ drive), where the waves are great and boards can be hired. RSPB Bempton Cliffs (25 minutes) is another popular spot – this time with birdwatchers, who flock here to see colonies of seabirds (including puffins in spring). As for seaside towns, you may like to head to Filey (10 minutes) for a wander on the beach and a tour of the Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, or skip up to Scarborough (20 minutes), home to a castle and open-air theatre as well as a lovely sandy beach and attractions like the Scarborough Fair Collection. Looking inland, you could get active with visits to the North Yorkshire Water Park (25 minutes) or Go Ape Dalby (45 minutes) or explore the trails of the North York Moors National Park (20 minutes). For more leisurely days, try Scampston Hall & Walled Garden (half an hour) or step back in time at Eden Camp Modern History Museum (35 minutes).
