  • Adults-only, dog-friendly site 15 minutes’ drive from York
  • Clifton Moor shops five minutes’ drive; Castle Howard half an hour
  • Café on site for breakfasts, sandwiches and afternoon teas
Those who wish to experience the attractions of the city of York while also waking up to the sight of endless green fields and dense woodland should consider staying at Willow House Caravan Park. From this peaceful, adults-only site (over 18s only), it’s a 15-minute drive to reach York Minster – that’s pretty handy, right? Even handier, though, is letting someone else do the driving into the city: you can catch a bus at the end of the drive. What’s more, you’re only a five-minute drive from Clifton Moor Retail Park, with its supermarkets, stores and entertainment options for rainy days (a multiscreen cinema and ten-pin bowling among them). But what about the site itself? In addition to two wildlife ponds – where you can stroll along looking at the ducks as they swim in and out of the bullrushes – there’s a café serving huge cooked breakfasts, sandwiches and wraps, all made with locally sourced produce. Oh, and afternoon teas with home-made cakes and other sweet treats. There is also a gift shop in the café. Your four-legged companion is a welcome guest here, and you can take them (or yourselves) for a walk through Westfield Wood nearby. Back on site, you’ll be able to use the wet room and washing-up area, as well as extra facilities near the café, which include showers and toilets (including facilities for disabled guests) plus a laundry area.

Electric gravel touring pitch

Liked: Nice flat pitches well kept site plenty of space . Dog walking was excellent as was the food in the cafe.

Disliked: Insufficient and tired toilet facilities, showers were awful hardly any water came out very cold experience. No reception was strange especially when we never had a email detailing what to do on arrival, talking to other people this appears to be a common issue

Liked: Great communication and everything was clearly detailed in the email. Facilities were very clean and well sign posted. We are new caravan owners and this was our first trip so we only stayed the one night just to try everything out including how to put the awning up which a lovely gentleman came to our aid and helped us as we were struggling to feed it through the seal on the caravan. We also went into the cafe and were so impressed with the delicious menu and variety of food on offer, we got the full English and the sausages were absolutely gorgeous well seasoned and homemade. All the staff were very friendly. We also went into the gift shop, lots of lovely gifts to choose from and at a decent price and the lady in there was really helpful and gave us lots of information on the site and local area including getting the bus into York from directly outside the site.

Disliked: None
