Set in North Yorkshire countryside on the outskirts of the village of Slingsby, Robin Hood Caravan Park is a pretty, family-run site with a good range of amenities, six miles east of Malton and close to the North York Moors. The well-kept park includes a treasure trail for your little treasures (around the park and into the local village) and a play area with swings, climbing frame, bouncers and slide, all on safe surfacing. There's also a licensed shop, a launderette and a clean and cosy toilet and shower block with hairdryers and shaving points. Local village of Slingsby is within walking distance of the park and has a country pub serving home-cooked meals and a social club where guests are able to enjoy a drink or two.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked: Spacious fully serviced pitches
Quiet location
Good TV signal
Combined shower & toilet clean apart from loo brush.

Disliked: No mobile phone signal or mobile data on Vodafone. O2 apparently better.
Chargeable Wi-Fi expensive
Combined shower and toilet units. Two such units shared by 18 pitches would be an issue when busy.
Office only open for a short period
Couldn't see any recycling bins

From the manager: Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. It is always difficult to help guests that admit, on arrival, to not researching the park and its location before pre-booking so it’s great to hear that you found our pitches to be spacious and you enjoyed the quietness.

To guests looking to book in the future, we spend alot of time ensuring that you have every piece of information you need to make the most of your stay with us. That information is available on this website, by using links we send you with your booking confirmation and in the welcome email you will receive a couple of days before your stay and, if you have any questions, we encourage you to call us.

The site plan sent to guests shows the location of all of our shower facilities (don’t worry, we have more than two) and all of our rubbish disposal areas (including our recycling facilities). You’ll also receive a phone number to contact us if you need us at any time during your stay. Reception is open every morning with afternoon hours subject to demand. But rather than sitting in reception, twiddling our thumbs whilst guests are out making the most of their time in our area, we’re on-site making sure facilities are cleaned, grass is cut and weeds are removed. We live here and we work here so we’re available to guests 24/7. I’m sorry that, for some guests, that doesn’t seem enough.

would definately recommend staying here

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked: The campsite was great, very peaceful, lovely big pitch, very well kept site. Facilities clean, easy to access.

Disliked: Not really an issue, but just to mention the information gives details of a farm shop and bakery in nearby Slingsby, but this doesn't seem to exsist any more.

Fully-serviced gravel touring pitch

Liked: The pitches were perfect. Large fully serviced pitches and probably the most level pitches we've had are any site and lovely and clean.

Disliked: Couldn't really fault the site other than it was very rural with not much about locally. We drove to whitby which was an hours drive but we'll worth a visit and had the weather for it.

Local attractions

This is an excellent base from which to explore the lush landscapes of Yorkshire, from the Wolds to the Moors; it’s also easy to get to the Yorkshire coastline and the resorts of Scarborough, Filey and Whitby, all with lots to see and do. For ramblers and cyclists, the Cleveland Way and Wolds Way both pass nearby, and there's diverse territory to explore, from wild moorland to dense forest, with plenty of lovely villages (and excellent pubs) in between. Harry Potter fans and locomotive lovers can have a trip aboard the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which chuffs its way across 18 miles of scenery and includes a stop at Goathland, the terminus for the Hogwarts Express. A 15-mile drive away is the ancient city of York, where visitors can walk around the city walls, be humbled by the majesty of the Minster, or take in one of the myriad museums and attractions. The National Railway Museum and Castle Museum are both highly recommended, and bloodthirsty bairns will enjoy York Dungeons and the growling Vikings in the reconstructions at the brilliant Jorvik Viking Centre. The streets are jampacked with tearooms, restaurants, bars and interesting independent shops: try Stonegate, Swinegate and the medieval Shambles for the best of the shopping. Castle Howard is very close by: take in the 18th-century architecture and interiors, roam around the gardens, woods and lakes, and keep the kids amused with a boat trip or a romp around the adventure playground. The packed events programme includes regular arts, crafts and produce markets, concerts and themed weekends. Also nearby are the Eden Camp World War II museum, Flamingoland adventure park and zoo, Dalby Forest and the treetop adventures of Go Ape.
