  • Simple and scenic pop-up site on a Yorkshire Dales working farm
  • A 10-minute drive to Bolton Abbey or Stump Cross Caverns
  • Direct access to the Dales Way; two village pubs five mins' drive away
Taking a walk on the Dales Way? You’ll probably want to stop off here – Pasture Pitches is in a supremely handy spot just off the long-distance path a couple of miles south of Appletreewick, with direct access from the path to the site. And the rather tougher 90-mile Dales High Way is only about a mile away too, making this a suitable spot for the more hardcore hikers as well. Even if you’re not planning to tackle the full 80-mile trail, this spot is well located for walking in the Yorkshire Dales – you could step out onto the Dales Way for a shorter riverside walk or check out lots of other lovely local trails including the Valley of Desolation waterfall walk or the routes around Embsay Crag (also a popular bouldering spot, by the way). Giving your boots a rest is no problem, either, as there are plenty of other attractions nearby including the stunning Stump Cross Caverns, the atmospheric ruins of Bolton Abbey and the heritage train rides of Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway. Skipton (15 minutes’ drive) is a handy place to find shops and places to eat, but there are also two pubs five minutes’ drive away in Appletreewick. This is a small and simple pop-up site on a working farm, so facilities stretch to just portable toilets and showers, but you’re welcome to bring a barbecue.

What customers say

This is a beautiful, peaceful campsite situated next to the River Wharfe, offering stunning views and direct access to the Dales Way footpath. Visitors consistently praise the exceptionally friendly and helpful owners, the cleanliness of the facilities, and the relaxed, low-key atmosphere. While some mention a lack of phone signal and a potential need for additional toilets and showers when busy, the overwhelming feedback highlights the site as a hidden gem and a highly recommended destination for nature lovers and walkers. Many guests express a strong desire to return.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and kind words. Other campers had mentioned this about the toilets after their stay and we rectified this issue whilst the campsite was closed yesterday. :) Thanks again for staying with us.

From the manager: Hi Rachel yes we’re sorry about the loos since building the wood has dried and shrunk due to the recent warm weather. We are closed for two days this week we aim to rectify this. Thanks for staying with us.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Amazing site, right next to the River Wharf, and access from site to the Dalesway walk. Owner came to say hello and to check us in. Really great guy. Toilet block with 2 toilets and 1 shower room, cleaned and refilled with toilet paper every day. Very doggy friendly as well. Lovely walk to the Strid, along the walkway or could go through Strid Woods towards Bolton Abbey. Alternatively you could walk in the opposite direction to Appletreewick.
We will definitely be back to this site.

Non-electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked Beautiful, peaceful site with great views, and glorious walking and surrounds. Fantastic, pristine simple facilities (shower, loos, sink, water.) Very friendly host and loved being able to pick a spot across the huge fields. Nice and spaced out, even in August silly season! Recommended.

Very little mobile/internet signal - perfect!

Disliked Be aware there is a steep path to drive down on entry - not a "dislike" as such, just to be aware if in a campervan.
