Large field in the middle of the yorkshire dales

  • Peaceful site in the Yorkshire Dales, five minutes’ drive from Settle
  • Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk 10 minutes’ drive; Morecambe 55 minutes
  • Underfloor-heated shower block built in natural limestone
Straddling the Yorkshire Dales and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lodge Park is a well-maintained site that will appeal to those who fancy a peaceful retreat, perhaps punctuated by invigorating walks through the surrounding woodland. Dogs are welcome here, so you can have your best friend by your side as you explore the local paths – not to mention the caves and waterfalls for which this area is known. If you want to sink your teeth into something more challenging, the trailhead for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Walk (which takes in Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) is a 10-minute drive away. Alternatively, you can admire the countryside from the comfort of the train on the Settle–Carlisle heritage railway (Settle station is about a mile away). Keen golfers, meanwhile, might prefer to while a few hours away on the greens at Settle and Giggleswick Golf Club (five minutes’ drive). On site, the toilet/shower block has been built with natural limestone, in keeping with other edifices in the area. On a chilly Yorkshire evening, you’ll no doubt be grateful for the underfloor heating in these quarters, which also include disabled facilities. The market town of Settle (five minutes), with its cute stone cottages, has numerous cafés and restaurants, traditional pubs and independent shops.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Staff very friendly and informative,
the site is beautifully located,
Facilities are great

Disliked: The only constructive criticism is that it would be ideal to have another block of toilets/showers, we visited on the bank holiday and 2 showers are not enough during busier periods

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: You could park up where you wanted, no set pitches.

Disliked: There were only 2 showers and 2 toilets (1portaloo) in the bottom field for the whole site approx 75-100 units (bank holiday weekend)
Showers were cold and there was never any toilet paper !!
Paid almost £60 for two nights - very disappointing, will not be returning.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: We travelled here as a family with a 7 month old baby, with some friends too, lodge park is a lovely site and easy to find. The site is very well set up and just as it says on the advertisement. Absolutely nothing to complain about at all- pick your own pitch, accommodating for caravans, tents, motorhomes and campervans, lots of space to play games too. Facilities are lovely, simple shower and toilet block and washing up facilities too but just enough to accommodate your trip!

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

Liked: - peace and quiet especially after 10pm
- flat pitches
- lots of choice for pitching up
- stunning location
- easy access to Settle town
- facilities were clean

Disliked: Facilities very clean but needed more. We stayed over bank holiday so site was very busy unfortunately there were only had two toilets and two showers. Another toilet block would make this site even better.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Close to Settle and rock climbing

Disliked: Only two toilets and two sinks for such a large campsite. Noisy, too many people weren’t following the noise rules after 10.
Expensive for pitching a tent for two people.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The field is nice and flat and feels like its in the middle of nowhere even though it is within walking distance into Settle and the Booths supermarket.

Jack couldn't do enough for all of the campers and it was a busy bank holiday weekend. Brilliant that they provide firepits to rent as it was a little chilly.

Nice a quite site with no music after 10pm but noise within reason after that time.

Disliked: Not very many toilets (2 plus 2 porta potties) and showers (2) on site but if you time it right then it was ok.

Local attractions

Don a hard hat and take a stroll deep into the bowels of the earth at Ingleborough Cave (20 minutes’ drive). Here, you can admire stalactites, stalagmites and other spectacular rock formations sculpted by water over many millennia, plus subterranean ponds. Dominated by a well-preserved medieval castle, Skipton (30 minutes) is on the banks of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, which you can explore from the comfort of a cruise boat or, if you feel comfortable around swing bridges, from your own hired narrow boat. On the outskirts of town, Raven Tree Top Adventure has hanging bridges and ziplines. Spend a day at the seaside in Morecambe (55 minutes), where you can take a leisurely stroll (or cycle ride) along the promenade, check out the trampoline park and have fish and chips alfresco, as you gaze upon the vast mudflats of Morecambe Bay. The mudflats might look inviting, but they’re notoriously treacherous, with quicksands and fast-moving tides, so you’re advised to stay off them.
