  • A 15-minute drive to Settle; 20 minutes to White Scar Cave
  • Kitchenette and ensuite shower room; pubs within walking distance
Fancy a bit of Yorkshire camping but with an added dose of weatherproof comfort? Come along to Cragg Hill Farm Pods to cosy up in a spacious and well-equipped wooden pod on the banks of the River Ribble, a mile or so from Horton in Ribblesdale. There are gorgeous views all around here, whether you choose to take hikes on the Ribble Way or Pennine Way, tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks or simply settle on site to gaze out at Pen-y-Ghent and the Ribble Valley or see if you can spot the trains trundling by on the Settle-Carlisle line. There’s also the option of heading down to Settle (15 minutes’ drive), which has leisure facilities like a pool and golf course as well as being a good source of supermarkets where you can pick up bits for meals back at base or picnics for days out around the surrounding Yorkshire Dales National Park. Wherever you end up by day, you’ll be coming back to a comfy place to stay: each pod has two bunk beds with mattresses (although you’ll need to bring your own bed linen and towels), TV, underfloor heating, ensuite shower room and loo, and a kitchenette with microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge/freezer. There’s a bench and table inside the pod to help you with serving up meals, plus a patio area with picnic bench for alfresco eats on sunnier days. If you need to work up an appetite for your meal, you could always take an amble over to one of the three country pubs within a mile (or just stay there for dinner…)

Middle Meadow camping pod

Liked: Perfect location, everything you need for a couple of days away. Such beautiful views to wake up to, amazing night sky, and the railway line behind the pods is great too as the kids love to wave at the trains going past. We’ve stayed a few times now and wouldn’t choose anywhere else. The kids have now managed all three Yorkshire peaks!

Middle Meadow camping pod

Liked: These pods are very comfortable, good size beds and excellent showers. There was a barn owl that flew over the fields nightly and that was certainly an extra treat to watch! Also the night sky on this site is beautiful.

Middle Meadow camping pod

Liked: Cosy and comfortable cabin situated in a beautiful area.
The cabin included a toilet and a shower, as well as a very basic kitchen area with a sink and a microwave. In front of the cabin is a little picnic area. The views from the cabin are great and right towards Pen-y-Ghent. Everything was clean and in good condition. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Right behind the cabin is the railway towards Ribblehead Viaduct going with a train passing by every now and then.

Disliked: Nothing much to dislike! Perhaps a little stove would have been practical, but where to put it

Middle Meadow camping pod

Liked: Perfect pod as a base for the Yorkshire Three Peaks. Exactly as described, small but perfectly formed. Comfy beds, neat mini kitchen, everything very clean. Warm too. Quiet, we never really noticed the occasional train rolling by. Plenty of parking space.

Middle Meadow camping pod

Liked: We enjoyed a really lovely stay in the camping pod with two young children as we couldn't be bothered putting our tent up! Wonderful rail line at the back, not noisy enough to disturb the peace but great for the kids to see the trains passing. Comfortable beds and spotlessly clean with bonus heating for the chilly nights. Peaceful back to basics campsite, will definitely revisit when our campervan is ready.

Disliked: Nothing

Far Meadow camping pod

Liked: What a little gem of a place, perfect for a stop over when your doing the 3 peaks or even just an escape from the normal boring day to day life ha. But yes a cute little campsite, and the pods are great everything you need, a kettle, toaster, microwave even a bbq outside not that we used it due to the weather. But we will certainly be back. Thank you for a great stay.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Local attractions

Taking off onto the nearby trails isn’t tricky work here. The Ingleborough trail up over the Yorkshire Dales’ second-highest mountain and the lower Pen-y-ghent trail both start in Horton in Ribblesdale (five minutes’ drive), while the Ingleton Waterfalls Trail (25 minutes) isn’t much further out. While you’re ticking off those natural beauty spots, White Scar Cave (20 minutes) should join your wishlist. In the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this place has a waterfall of its own (underground, of course) and a host of cool archaeological features. Then, of course there’s Malham (half an hour), which has a fair few splendid natural sights, including the glacial lake Malham Tarn, the Janet’s Foss waterfall and pool and the huge, limestone Malham Cove. Got a taste for the fine things? You might want to count Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese as one of those, and where better to sample it than its home, the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre (half an hour)? There’s likely to be more tasty eats around Skipton (45 minutes), a market town with a castle. And for somewhere to walk it all off, The Forbidden Corner (an hour) has tunnels and follies in the Yorkshire Dales.
