Entrance to little seed field glamping site

  • Glamping site on a family farm 15 minutes from Pateley Bridge
  • In the Yorkshire Dales with views over the Nidderdale Valley
  • Heated kitchen and bathroom facilities
You’d be forgiven for not spotting your cabin the first time you take a wander around Little Seed Field. And if that happens, the owners (the fourth generation of a family farming business) may well be chuffed to hear they’ve succeeded in their mission to slot their glamping units seamlessly into the natural landscaping. To aid the integration of guests and resident creatures, cabins have been scattered in secluded spots between the trees, boulders and natural grasses, with gorgeous views over the Nidderdale Valley. When the sun’s gone down, angle your gaze upwards as the remote rural location means some fably starry skies, clouds permitting. You’ll be bedding down in a smart wooden cabin, set up with double and bunk beds and kitted out with insulation and a woodburning stove to keep things cosy should the North Yorkshire winds blow. Each one has access to a barbecue for fine days, and there’s a small kitchenette (with toaster, kettle and microwave) for prepping meals on dingier days. Bathroom facilities are alongside the kitchen in the centrally heated amenities block. When it’s time to head out from this rural retreat, you’ll have plenty of options: roam around the surrounding Yorkshire Dales, or get in the car for 20 minutes or so to visit a theme park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site or the city attractions of Ripon (also the best place to stock up on foodie supplies for back at base).

Cabin

Liked: Wow what can we say, the views were spectacular, it was very peaceful and tranquil. We stayed in Foxtail, it was very cosy, there was a cute little wicker basket with milk, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar and biscuits which we really appreciated. As well as cutlery and camping plates, mugs etc.The wood burning stove was great. We had plenty of space to play games, welly tossing and bowls. The bed was super comfortable, after we had a BBQ we got settled down in the cozy Foxtail and we were asleep by 10pm, first time in years we felt like going to bed early. We woke up briefly in the night, the walk to the toilet was just up the hill, we felt safe. It was lovely hearing the owl in the distance and other birds tweeting away, we went back to bed and our alarm we set woke us up at 9am. We didn't want to leave, we had the best sleep ever. No Internet, no TV, away from society to totally switch off. We can't wait to stay again. The feathered quilt was the best. Walks near by and a double swing which we enjoyed. The sunset was a perfect end to our evening. The table and bench seats outside overlooking the fields was just a perfect setting. Thank you very much for a splendid, tranquil stay.

Disliked: Having to leave when it was time to go. 😔

Cabin

Liked: The scenery was beautiful and the cabin was clean and cosy, The log burning stove at night was really relaxing too. We had a fire outside in the pit provided as each hut has its own fire pit and garden area also. The shared kitchen was clean and had the needed facilities, as were the shared bathrooms shower gel, flannels etc were included. Beds were comfy and clean each room has a double and a bunk bed, as well as a little table and benches. In the welcome basket was tea, coffee, hot chocolate, chocolates & biscuits which were nice on an evening kept warm on the log burner
There was also walks and large ponds on the site.

Disliked: Next time I would get a cabin with an ensuite for ease during the night / when it’s raining and bad weather and would maybe bring an extension lead / lamp if staying longer.

Cabin

Liked: Beds were really comfortable, log burner was brilliant, really made it cosy and snug. Beautiful setting, very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely go back.

Disliked: Showers ☹️ although very clean and well maintained, you get about 30 seconds of water before having to push the button again. Have to emphasise though that this is literally the only thing that I didn't like.

From the manager: Thank you for leaving us a review Lynn, we really appreciate it. Thank you also for the feedback about the showers.

Our showers use non-concussive taps as a means of water conservation. All of the water we have here is treated natural spring water, we are not on a mains water supply. These types of taps guarantee that a tap can never be left running accidentally, and although they are not ideal for long showers, they are essential to help us minimise water wastage.

Top of the range glamping. 👍

Local attractions

Get your hiking boots on and venture out into the Yorkshire Dales for a walk – there are of course heaps of paths to select from. If you can’t bear to select, perhaps heed the locals' advice and head to one of the owners’ suggested spots: Gouthwaite Reservoir, Brimham Rocks and Coldstones Cut (Yorkshire’s biggest and highest public artwork, no less) are all within a 20-minute drive. If you’ve an eye for a historic attraction or two, you’ll most likely want to be heading to the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Gardens, 20 minutes’ drive away, and/or taking a walk around the characterful streets of Ripon (20 minutes) or Harrogate (half an hour). And even nippers who claim not to be into all this old stuff may just approve of a trip to Pateley Bridge, 15 minutes away, and the Oldest Sweet Shop in the World. Kids who’ve been on good behaviour may find themselves rewarded with a trip to Lightwater Valley theme park; grownups who’ve managed the same might fancy a tour of the Black Sheep Brewery. Both are about 20 minutes away by car.
