  • Small family-run holiday park just outside the village of Skipsea
  • Hornsea and Bridlington within 15 minutes' drive; 35 mins to Hull
  • A 10-minute walk from the beach, pub and village shop
Well, this is a sweet spot for a break close to the East Yorkshire coast – Strawberry Fields Holiday Park is less than 10 minutes’ walk from Driffield beach, a long sandy stretch where you can take a good lengthy walk, go fishing or let the kids run about and let off steam (and it's dog friendly too, so the whole family can enjoy the experience…) And although the beach is a huge draw, it’s not the only thing this small family-run park has going for it on the location front as the village of Skipsea is also about 10 minutes’ walk away for a pub (with a good range of meals and snacks as well as drinks) and a well-stocked village shop. A café and ice cream parlour are also a few minutes’ walk away for sweet treats during your stay. Facilities on site include picnic tables, a washing-up area and modern bathrooms with accessible facilities and a parent and baby room. It’s all overseen by the family that run the place, who take great pride in making sure everything is clean and comfortable for their guests. All in all, this park makes a great base for an East Yorkshire break, mixing up seaside days (either here or in nearby Hornsea and Bridlington) with city strolls in Hull or rural wanders around the Yorkshire Wolds.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: A warm welcome even though we arrived quite late on a wet and windy new year's eve. The parking and facilities were level, well drained, modern and good quality. We had everything we needed. The whole site is being upgraded so will be something else when complete. The location is quiet as it's at the end of the road but there are nearby villages with amenities.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The very exceptional couple Terry and Elaine that welcomed us and went out of their way to help in anyway they could
The easy access to the bus stops
The pub in village with great food and atmosphere
The nearby shop
The extremely clean facilities, although if the site had been full we would have struggled with one shower and 2 toilets each side
Very tranquil park , although the pitches for Motorhomes could be very muddy in places and although nice and private , difficult to get the sun because of the trees

Disliked: Not really a dislike but the website gave the impression of a 10 min stroll to access the beach which now the cliff has collapsed is not accessible
Also on website it says there is an activity room with pool table etc but it’s no longer there

Liked: Lovely site within walking distance of the beach, but you do need to walk further down if you not agile to get down with rope. Site was immaculately clean including shower blocks and washing up area. Had read no phone signal or 4G but we didn’t find this. Great area to walk the dogs down bottom of the site.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: In the sheltered surroundings of tall bushes and shrubs, it didn't matter which way the breeze came from. The ground was firm and the grass kept short by the abundance of rabbits which I`m sure would be a novelty to young children as they would come out simultaneously every evening. There is plenty of space for children to run and play. And a modern new shower block that was kept spotless by the pleasant couple who booked us in. I noticed a large disability shower room also a purpose-built wheelchair ramp for easy access. The owner came around and made sure we had everything we needed and was very approachable. The village pub is only a short walking distance and serves tasty meals. The site caters mainly to seasonal pitches although there was plenty of room for tourers and campers alike and all with EHU and a water point. A great place for star gazing.

Disliked: The only criticism of the showers was that there was only one male and one female shower plus the disabled shower, but this did not affect our stay.
The access to the beach 250 meters along a pedestrian path with vehicle access is limited because of the coastal erosion and care should be taken when visiting the cliffs. You must not bath under the shadows of the collapsing cliffs.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: The management team go above and beyond to make sure you have everything you need. When you arrive they show you to you pitch and several times a day they can be found walking round site talking to the campers

The toilets and showers are the cleanest I have seen on any camp site and are always well stocked with tissue and soap

The pitches are large and well spaced and flat.

A large part of the field is available for the kids to run and play with a goal available to use

The park is within walking distance of a very nice local dog friendly beach and a short drive to Bridlington or Hornsea resorts with the amusements and funfairs

A very quiet site of a night which was great for us to get the grandchild to bed and for her to get a good night's sleep before another full day of activities

Will definitely be returning a great site

Local attractions

If you’re coming to the coast for a few beach days, you'll have plenty of choice – as well as strolling over to your local beach, you could head south to Hornsea (10 minutes’ drive) or north to Bridlington (15 minutes). The first is also home to the Bugtopia zoo, Honeysuckle Farm and fishing or sailing on Hornsea Mere, while the second has Bridlington Animal Park and various boat trips to tempt you away from the beach. A little further north again is Flamborough Head (half an hour), known as an excellent place for spotting sea birds. You may well also spot some wildlife while exploring the Yorkshire Wolds (20 minutes), either on walks, bike rides or horse-riding outings (20 minutes). Urban time can easily be on the cards as well. Day trips to Hull (35 minutes) come highly recommended, for trips to The Deep aquarium and the Streetlife Museum of Transport, and the lovely market town of Beverley (25 minutes) is well worth a wander too.
