  • Family-run coastal park in Mappleton, with sea views
  • A five-minute drive to Hornsea; 25 minutes to Hull
  • Beach three minutes' walk away; dogs welcome on site
If you’re setting off to East Yorkshire in search of sea views… well, you’ve found them at Sea View Country Park. This site is just on the edge of the ancient hamlet of Mappleton, about five minutes’ drive south of Hornsea, and has views out over the North Sea coast. That location makes this family-run site a great spot for a bit of seaside relaxation – and there’s a beach about three minutes’ walk away too for those who’d like to get even closer. There's a car park by the beach and a concrete ramp leads down to the sands, so it’s accessible for less-mobile guests. Just past the beach entrance (about five minutes’ walk from the site) is a tea room serving home-cooked meals along with takeaway sandwiches for a picnic on the sands. As well as the beach just by the site, it’s not far to Hornsea, which has another lovely beach plus plenty of places to shop and eat (including an award-winning fish and chip shop). Elsewhere along the coast, you may like to visit other seaside towns like Bridlington, or look out for passing birds at RSPB Bempton Cliffs. Or, if you’re feeling particularly energetic, pick up the Pennine Trail which will take you all the way over west to the Irish Sea. Dogs and kids are welcome at this park, where facilities have been kept to the essentials to preserve a peaceful atmosphere. All of the spacious pitches have water and electrical connections, and there are modern shower and toilet blocks with baby changing facilities and disabled access.

Liked: Such a lovely site and friendly helpful hosts. We have just spent Easter weekend here and nothing is too much trouble. Great clean facilities and lovely big pitches. Will defo stay here again and didn’t have any issues with the electrics! The bus stops right outside the site into Hornsea and back. Thanks for a great stay. We will be back!

Disliked: Paid £35 a night as I booked the Sunday , but a couple had paid £26 a night as they booked from the Monday , so we was all there at same time but ours was a extra £9 a nite for the same service , plus when I spoke to the lady who runs it she said they gave deals on so why was it 2 different prices at the same time people was there, she dosent have no management skills neither , plus was charged £12 for additional dog when I never even put a additional dog , it’s all wrong this is why your caravan site was empty as they make up there own prices , so the less on you pay more, the more on you pay less, I was charged £152 for 4 nites , and someone was charge £90 for 3 nites , clearly all wrong , waiting now for pitch up to investigate this caravan site

From the manager: Good afternoon kelly & Geoff first of all this review is unfair - you were offered a refund as you wanted to leave then changed your mind yourself said its a miss-understanding you wish to stay . as it was explained to you on multiple occasions no one can add a extra pet but the person booking , it states clearly what is included in the price . As with all other businesses we do sales which adheres with pitch up rules , when you booked you where more then happy with the costs , you made a customer feel very uncomfortable approaching them asking what there costs was when they where enjoying family time together instead of just popping into the office to ask this , sending a vary of emails to staff in a unpleasant manner .we have never dealt with something in this manner before therefor we are not accepting booking in the future with yourselves Have a good weekend .

Local attractions

Start by heading up to Hornsea (five minutes’ drive) for a visit to the Hornsea Folk Museum, which has a Victorian farm kitchen, a dairy and a blacksmith’s shop, plus regular craft demonstrations (pottery, lace making and spinning among them). After that, you might like to take the kids to feed sheep and horses at the town’s Honeysuckle Farm or check out the creepy-crawlies at Bugtopia Hornsea Zoo. Or maybe it’s time for a peaceful picnic at Hornsea Mere, a popular spot for birdwatching, fishing and sailing. For a change of scenery, take a trip to Hull (25 minutes) to see all sorts of vintage transport displays at the free Streetlife Museum, where you can also ride an old tram through a reconstructed historic street, or learn about underwater life at The Deep aquarium. Burton Constable Hall & Grounds (15 minutes) is another nearby place that’s worth a visit for a stroll through Capability Brown-designed parkland, a tour of the art-filled house and a peek into the Cabinet of Curiosities.
