  • Wild camping on a farm in Waveney Valley three miles from the coast
  • A five-minute drive from Oulton Broad and 10 minutes from Lowestoft
  • Pubs and restaurants within a mile or two; firepits on site
Set down in a wildlife haven at Waveney’s Wild Wood and Camp. Once you’ve slung a hammock between the trees or pitched your tent under the canopies, this family-friendly farm site is well-situated for historic Broads landscapes and the Norfolk coast… as it’s three miles away from the coast and a five-minute drive from Oulton Broad where you may hire out a boat to glide along the waterways. Leave no trace, as this site is geared up for guests to get back to nature. There are both toilet and shower facilities and composting toilets on site, as well as a water tap next to the car park. Mobile reception is patchy, and there's no electricity, so mind that you pack a torch to pick out your way around when it’s dark. There are firepits and braziers on site too, paired with rather splendid views over the marshlands of The Broads (a national park and Site of Special Scientific Interest). A 15-minute drive away, there’s a large nature reserve owned by the Suffolk Wildlife Trust with all manners of birds and winter waders. And on site, the woodlands often welcome badgers, foxes, muntjac, marsh harrier and barn owls, as well as the occasional Chinese Water deers, hares and kingfishers. This is a pretty peaceful site with laidback vibes – so you’ll have a nice base near the Suffolk and Norfolk border with locally produced food, wine and beer within a couple of miles, and easy access to the Waveney Way in Lowestoft (10 minutes’ drive), part of the 93-mile Angles Way footpath with links Great Yarmouth, Thetford, the Peddars Way and the Norfolk Coast Path.

Brock non-electric forest floor tent pitch (woodland)

Liked I stayed at Waveney Wild Woods and Camp with my young son, and it was a really special experience. Our Brock woodland pitch felt secluded and peaceful, surrounded by forest, but we were never far from the facilities or the easy access of the site.

Having that balance meant we could enjoy the feeling of being away from it all while still being comfortable. We spent time together exploring, relaxing, and just enjoying the quiet — it gave us a real chance to bond and reconnect.

A simple, calm, and memorable place to stay. We’d definitely come back.

Lookout non-electric grass and earth tent pitch

Liked A fantastic small camp site if you like a bit of quiet and privacy. Pitches are all separated from each other with lovely views. There was a clean toilet and shower and power to charge your devices (should that be important).

Holly Hill non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked Fabulous views, thoughtfully layer out pitches which give the feeling you are the only people there even when it’s full!
Generous welcome touches including wood for fire, biscuits and drinks.
Basic facilities immaculately kept make this a very special place.
Owners are very friendly and attentive, even though I managed to book the wrong dates online they were not fazed and handled everything very professionally and with great kindness

Hart non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Beautiful sunset and amazing view from our grassy pitch over the fields and to the Waveney river in the distance. The trees provided excellent morning shade. Lovely little back to basics campsite but with a nice, proper flushing toilet and shower. We were the only guests that night but even if there had been other campers, the pitches are scattered around the farm so you wouldn't see them anyway. For those camping in the woods, there's an amazing communal firepit and and seating area with the amazing views we enjoyed. Friendly and helpful hosts with logs and firepit provided as well as a tin of nice biccies. Will definitely be back.

Wollemi non-electric forest floor tent pitch (woodland)

Liked What an amazing place being so close to nature, I would highly recommend this site to anyone. We stayed in the woodland pitch and the whole experience was fantastic, from the greeting at the gate by the owner showing us round the site, facilities and stunning views. You felt safe, your there to get back to nature and experience night life in the woods. Definitely a must go place.

Holly Hill non-electric grass campervan or tent pitch

Liked The campsite is amazing in all respects. The scenery is stunning, the owner is friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the pitches where you camp are extremely spacious. We were in the camper van pitch and loved sitting by the fire listening to the muntjacs and owls in the distance.
