Pitches next to waste water, drinking water, general waste and recycling bins

  • Small adults-only touring site on a north Norfolk farm
  • Wells-next-the-Sea, Blakeney and Holkham all within a 15-minute drive
  • Quiet dog-friendly grass pitches with lovely rural views all around
Rural views and plenty of restful space are what’s in store for guests at Row Hill Farm – this sweet little Norfolk site has just a handful of touring pitches, and they're set up to accommodate adults only. The pitches here are spread across half an acre of gently sloping grass, with good drainage and access to electric hookups. Drinking water, waste water disposal and rubbish/recycling areas are all provided, but you’ll need to be self-contained on the bathroom front as there are no toilets or showers on site. Staying here should give you a proper taste of countryside peace and quiet – the farm is accessed via a quiet country lane and surrounded by hedging and paddock fencing, with views over the arable fields beyond. And if the one thing missing from this picture is your dogs, well, there's good news. Dogs are welcome to join you here (maximum of two per pitch) as long as they’re kept on a lead. Canine companion or not, this location makes an excellent base for a break exploring north Norfolk’s countryside and coastline. It’s just a little way outside the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and about 15 minutes' drive from the beaches at Wells-next-the-Sea and Holkham, as well as the seal colony at Blakeney. Even closer by is the village of Binham (five minutes' drive), which is home to a pub, a café and a local dairy shop. There's another pub in the nearby village of Wighton, although you'll be allowed to bring along a barbecue if you'd rather spend the evening cooking out in the open air.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Peaceful, adults only site. Dogs allowed, though no special facilities for them, but that's OK. Lovely fellow travellers. Well kept. Small CL site. Perfect for people that like to get away from it all.

Disliked: Few facilities, but not a huge problem. Quite open and windy. The last few miles of getting there were single track roads, with a lack of passing places.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked: Small quiet adult only rural site, great countryside for biking, close to Walsingham, Holt and North Norfolk coast.

Disliked: Zero contact with owner - for a ten day stay which was a little unusual although it didn't matter too much.

Local attractions

You may like to start your break with a stroll from the site – both Binham Priory and Hindringham Hall Gardens are about half an hour's walk away along quiet country lanes. Another lovely place for wander is the Georgian town of Holt (15 minutes' drive), which has lots of arty and independent shops hidden away in its alleyways and courtyards. Heading up to the coast has to be done too, of course – and there are some gorgeous spots to choose from (although ideally you'll get them all into your schedule…) The colourful beach huts of Wells-next-the-Sea and the huge pinewood-backed sandy swathe at Holkham are both about 15 minutes' drive away, and you may also like to take in the Stiffkey salt marshes (10 minutes) and the windmill in Cley-next-the-Sea (20 minutes). For an unusual day out, head to Blakeney (15 minutes) to see the country’s largest grey seal colony, or plan your trip for the autumn and pick up tickets to the incredible Thursford Christmas Spectacular (10 minutes).
