  • Family-friendly shepherd’s hut in a peaceful Norfolk five-acre field
  • In a village 20 minutes’ drive from The Broads National Park boat hire
  • Well-equipped kitchen, breakfast bar and a converted horsebox bathroom
Stay in the shepherd’s hut at Mucking Fuddle and when morning rolls around, you'll be in pole position to hire a boat or canoe and explore The Broads National Park, as it's only 20 minutes’ drive away… Those adventures should be on full stomach too, as there's plenty of space for food prep in the well-equipped camp kitchen on site, which has a fridge and a gas stove with two hobs. Perhaps your packed lunch will use up leftovers from last night’s grilling session, as the shepherd’s hut also has a barbecue. Set in a five-acre field, this family-friendly shepherd's hut is completely off-grid and powered by solar. Your four-legged family members are also invited, and with outdoor seating for eight people, you'll all have plenty of space to spread out. Sleeping four, the hut has a kingsize double bed which converts into a dining area; there's a separate bedroom with bunk beds for the kids. No need to pack your own duvets, as bed linen and towels are provided. As for using the loo, a horse trailer has been converted into a bathroom with a composting toilet and a hot shower just for you. Finally, the hut comes has been kitted out with other handy features such as multiple USB ports, a breakfast bar and a woodburning stove. A pub-restaurant is 10 minutes’ walk away from Mucking Fuddle and a garden centre with a farm shop is 15 minutes’ walk away. The neighbouring village, Bergh Apton, has a post office, a fishing lake and a nature reserve with good birdwatching; all three are within 20 minutes’ walk of the site. There's a café, a butcher and a hairdresser in Brooke village, which is five minutes’ drive away from the site. There are also country walks directly from the site.

1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked: The tiny home was so cosy, had everything we needed and more. The little extra things to do were so appreciated (books, inside family games, cards, outside toys, archery, hammock) it was an absolutely beautiful place to stay, and we couldn’t be happier.

We took our nervous/ reactive dog and the location was amazing, completely away from everything else, except the few chickens in the field next to us (which gave us some yummy eggs for breakfast)

1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked: The whole stay was brilliant. The hut is cosy and well-equipped and I loved the wood burner. The host was on hand for any questions and was attentive, making sure everything was running smoothly during the high winds and also dropping off spare kindling just in case I needed it.

1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked: everything!!!!

lovely part of england to explore and plenty of amenities close by via car but feels like you’re cut off from the world when you shut the door.

we truly had a relaxing break and great quality time together playing games as a family away from internet and distractions.

loved having temporary pet hens, all the finishing touches of the tiny hut and the escape from reality

magical start to 2025

thank you Lizzie

1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked: Wow! What a find this place was!
Absolutely stunning place to stay. Extremely clean, well equipped and had little details that made it so special.
Lizzie is the nicest person, so friendly and welcoming and cannot do enough to ensure you're happy, she even left pumpkins for my children to carve.
So much space that you get all to yourself! Great for doggy owners and children. Lovely outdoor activities for the children including archery in hay bales, and plank balancing beams etc. Lots of games and colouring etc for indoor activities too. Kitchen came well equipped with everything you could need. A lovely food basket, and milk etc were provided too. So thoughtful!
My children loved the chickens, and were pleased to collect eggs in the morning.
Beds were extremely comfortable, and we were lovely and warm at night, there's also an indoor fire damper for those chilly evenings.
Shower was lovely! One of the best i've ever used being away, lovely hot water.
Really needed a getaway from everyday life, and I feel truly relaxed after spending a few days here.
We were gutted to have to come home today, and will most definitely be back!
Honestly, this place is fabulous!

Disliked: Nothing at all!!

1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked: Where to start with this wonderful slice of heaven? The little house is beautifully decorated and they've thought of everything. There were some goodies (and essentials) for us to have a nibble on when we arrived and fresh eggs from the 4 chickens on site, what a delight. There's plenty of games/colouring/books to keep you entertained if the weather takes a turn. The bathroom in the horsebox is a stroke of genius, it was clean and well stocked - and there was plenty of hot water. There's lots of outdoor space, a godsend for our two dogs, and lots of outdoor seating (and lighting for when it gets dark) Despite visiting in October we didn't need to use any extra heating from the wood burner inside, the insulation did an excellent job keeping the daytime heat in. We only spent 3 nights there but we wish it were so many more, we will definitely be heading back. A beautiful spot owned by a fantastic family, ten out of ten (and then some!)

1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked: Everything! We had such a chilled out weekend. Sitting around the firepit at night in a field to ourselves. Lovely little touches inside the hut with a basket of goodies for us. Everything was provided for what we needed. Lizzie was a wonderful host and let us see to the chickens which I enjoyed. It wasn’t a luxury holiday but we had the most amazing time ever and I’m missing it already. We will definitely be returning soon. Such a different way of life and away from the hustle and bustle of home life. Lizzie I can’t thank you enough and well done for providing such a wonderful stay

Disliked: Nothing to dislike

1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked: This Shepherd's hut absolutely blown us away, it really is a home from home, with all the little detail that's gone into this. This hut really is stunning and you won’t be disappointed staying here. We arrived to a hamper full of goodies, plenty of wood for the log burner and fresh eggs from the lovely little chickens who share the paddock. The little ones had so much fun playing with the hay bales, seeing the chickens and having the whole paddock to ourselves, we felt a million miles away from the world. The shower was just like being in your bathroom at home. The cleanliness of the whole place was immaculate, and the vibe of the hut feels very country farm house style.. warm, welcoming and peaceful. I really wish we had booked to stay longer, I could truly spend weeks here at a time. Lizzie and her husband are amazing human beings, accommodating and there to help at a drop of a hat. We couldn’t have booked anywhere better than what we did here. I’m already planning on our next stay here, and we can’t wait, even the dog enjoyed his little holiday 😁

Disliked: In all honesty, there is genuinely not 1 thing me or the family disliked about staying at Mucking Fuddle.

1 bedroom shepherd's hut

Liked: Mucking Fuddle is beautiful accommodation. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and it is spotlessly clean. We had a lovely few days here. There are just so many little touches.of niceness that it's hard to know where to start ! Lovely outdoor fire area. Marshmallows and hot chocolate on hand. A welcoming hamper and even milk, butter and condiments in the fridge ! We had some great days out as well: a boat trip (do remember to pack insect repellant) and a lovely walk to a seal colony, only a short drive away. Definitely recommend :)
