  • Friendly, well-maintained site just outside Mundesley, north Norfolk
  • Cromer 20 minutes’ drive; Norwich 40 minutes
  • Pub, supermarket and other amenities within a mile
Pick a pitch at Hayfield Hideaways if you want to be close to some of the most splendid parts of Norfolk’s north coast. Surrounded by natural scenes and within easy walking distance (15 minutes, via a footpath) of the traditional village of Mundesley (and its beach), this site is also a five-minute walk from a bus stop where you can catch the Norfolk Coasthopper. It really couldn’t be easier to leave the car behind. Hayfield Hideaways is a family-run business that welcomes well-behaved kids and waggy-tailed friends. This is the sort of place to head to if you’re after a simple rural escape surrounded by lots of open space. In addition to a level grass field, the well-maintained site has a good range of basic services, with two toilets and two showers, plus other handy facilities like waste disposal points. After a long day exploring what’s on offer in the surrounding area – from North Sea beaches to the Norfolk Broads (half an hour’s drive) – you can relax at your pitch over a barbecue or head towards Mundesley, where there’s a variety of spots to eat including pubs, restaurants and fish and chip shops. Other amenities – a supermarket, butcher’s shop, ice-cream parlour and fruit and veg shop – are within a mile of the site.

What customers say

Hayfield Hideaways offers a peaceful, well-maintained campsite with spacious pitches nestled in wildflowers. Visitors praise the exceptionally clean facilities, friendly and helpful owners, and the relaxed atmosphere. Its excellent location is ideal for exploring the coast, with a pleasant walk to Mundesley village and the beach. Minor points include occasional traffic noise on pitches closer to the road and limited on-site entertainment for children. Overall, it's highly recommended for a tranquil getaway.

Liked This place is amazing. Excellent sized pitches. Toilets and showers were spotless. We stayed for one night it was peaceful within Beautiful surroundings. The owners were extremely helpful. Even going above and beyond to find us some wood for the fire pit that they deliver to your pitch. I’d highly recommend anyone that wants a night off grid in the motorhome to visit this site.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked We stayed as a family with two young children and really enjoyed our time here. The spacious pitches with long grass and clear cut paths gave a lovely, natural feel. It’s just a short walk into Mundesley (or an even quicker drive), and the local farmer even offered a BBQ, which was a nice touch. Peaceful and quiet, with a stunning sunset to end the day – we’d definitely recommend it.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Great stay at this lovely campsite. The hayfield cut with areas for pitches gives lots of privacy and there is good space between the pitches. A sense of nature very present and calm quiet.
The amenities were very clean with everything working well.
The campsite owner was great- friendly and very helpful without being intrusive.
You can walk into village and beach either 20 mins or a longer lovely walk about 40 mins.

Disliked There is a little noise from the road

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review. We’re glad you enjoyed the privacy, natural setting, and clean facilities, as well as our friendly team. All of our pitches are set back from the road and separated by the trees and hedging we’ve planted as a mini woodland, helping to create a peaceful stay. We’d love to welcome you back for another visit soon.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Beautiful small site which i imagine looked even better when all the wild flowers were in bloom. Good facilities for pot washing & clean toilets. Great location & not too many pitches with lots of space between.

Disliked No hot water in the sink ( toilet area) & showers not hot enough for me 🥶 although on a hot day they might have been ok

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you for your review. We’re glad you enjoyed the peaceful setting, facilities, and spacious layout of our campsite.

We’re sorry about the hot water in the sink, this was a temporary fault that our team quickly resolved once notified.

Regarding the showers, if you’d spoken to a team member we could have adjusted the temperature (if it was truely cold), though we do need to be mindful of children using the showers and can’t have it too hot.

We hope to welcome you back for another stay soon.

Local attractions

The lively programme at the Pavilion Theatre in Cromer (20 minutes’ drive) includes tribute musical acts, stand-up comedy sessions and dance nights. The theatre occupies the tip of the town’s Victorian pier, where there are also a handful of dining options. Take a leisurely walk along the beach before climbing the Doctor’s Steps up to North Lodge Park. Felbrigg Hall, Gardens and Estate (20 minutes) is a National Trust country house with elegant interiors decorated with delicate wallpaper (including hand-printed examples), paintings and handmade furniture. Aromatic herbs grow in the pretty walled garden, while the grounds include a vast area of woodland. In Norwich (40 minutes), take a trip back to the Middle Ages as you stroll along Elm Hill, a cobbled street lined with half-timbered buildings. Or visit Norwich Cathedral, with its splendid vaulted cloister, where you can meditate as you walk along the central grass labyrinth. There are views of the River Wensum’s leafy banks from St George’s St Bridge.
