  • Peaceful adults-only site in a wildlife haven
  • Two fishing lakes with carp, tench, roach, rudd and bream
  • A 10-minute stroll to Hingham with shops and a dog-friendly inn
Hoot. And (fishing) hook. Big folk, come and join the owls, hawks, red kites, muntjac deer and other local inhabitants round and about adults-only Rectory Farm Fishing and Camping Site in Norfolk. Bring your rod and licence to tackle the slippery specimens at Rectory Farm’s two fishing lakes, filled with mostly carp and tench, and smaller shoals of roach, rudd and bream to try your hand at for a day or half-day charge. The lakes are as well maintained as the site facilities, where guests have access to toilets, showers, taps with drinking water, a fridge freezer, sinks with hot water all day and night, waste disposal point and picnic benches to take in the views. Dogs are welcome and have special areas on site for energetic walks. From Rectory Farm, it’s a safe 10-minute stroll to Hingham, with the dog-friendly White Hart inn, shops, bakers and butcher to pick up sausages and other essentials for the evening campfire.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (solo)

Liked: The campsite was wonderfully set up for different groups and interests.
I had a solo-pitch, which was perfect for my Bell tent and camp-fire in the evenings.
Many birds flew around, including a red kit. And in the evening, the hedgehog had a proper sniff near the tent.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely views with lovely big pitches. Price is very reasonable with the payment for electricity based on what you use making this a much fairer option than other sites. Site has handy communal microwaves, fridge and a freezer. Particularly like the landscaping work that is in progress with a mindfulness towards promoting nature as well as creating private glades that will add to the peaceful feel in years to come. We will definitely be returning with the view to making this a regular destination

Disliked: As the site grows in size and popularity they will need to consider having more toilet/shower facilities. We are sure they have this through as the whole site has been carefully and beautifully planned.

Electric optional hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Lovely site, great location, quiet and friendly. Lovely pond to look out over.
Hosts, Richard & Chris were lovely.
Nice wide pitch with water and hook up if needed. Toilets and showers were available and very clean. Short walk into Hingham which has a lovely bakery, cafe and pub. We used the pub, The White Hart for food and can recommend. We also tried the bakery. Friendly staff and fab pastries.
Definitely recommend Rectory Farm. 👍👍

Disliked: Nothing.

Local attractions

Once you’ve put down the fishing rod, head to Hingham with the camera to snap some shots of very fashionable houses: Hingham’s popularity with posh Georgians who came here in the 18th-century led to the town being labelled Little London. The eastern side of the market place is said to have the best collection of Georgian houses in Norfolk, perfect for pics and a possible rant about 21st-century property prices (buy a motorhome instead). From Hingham, it’s about 17 miles east to Norwich, Norfolk’s capital town and filled with a capital amount of attractions such as England’s biggest six-day indoor market, the greatly-sized Gothic fountain at the Plantation Garden and the ‘Norwich 12’, 12 listed buildings in the city including stupendous Norwich Cathedral. Keep driving your way east to reach the Norfolk Broads: their 125 miles of navigable waterways are where to go in Norfolk for all things boat, whether you want to try a guided river trip to wildlife spot, hire a boat to drift lazily down the water or take out a canoe for placid paddling. The Broads have several good angling lakes to pick from too, or try sea fishing off the beach from Sea Palling round to the coast at Great Yarmouth. A 45-minute drive from Rectory Farm will bring you to the gorgeous beaches of the north Norfolk coast and the 45 miles of the North Norfolk Coastal Path, going from Hunstanton to Cromer via Wells and Blakeney in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
