  • Café and nature walks set in 150 acres; golf course 20 minutes’ drive
Listen up all you anglers: Billingford Lakes and Country Park is a top Norfolk spot for fishing, with 11 lakes and ponds in which you can find some seriously heavy carp (up to 40lb in weight) and a good stock of tench and other coarse fish. These can be fished on day- or 24-hour tickets, and are on top of your pitch cost. But if you’re just not that into fishing, well, there’s more to the place than just that. The park owners also organise nature walks (which are free for campers and bookable once on site) and there’s a good nine-hole course and indoor simulators nearby at Mattishall Golf Club (20 minutes’ drive) too. Although Billingford Lakes and Country Park is primarily geared toward self-sufficient guests, there are two showers and two sets of toilets for you to use. The hardstanding and grass pitches themselves are set in a quiet corner of the park’s 150 acres, but nice and close to the play area and outdoor gym, as well as a café doing a good line in breakfast baps and burgers. There are pubs in North Elmham (which also has a fish and chip shop) and Brisley (both about five minutes’ drive), all serving decent food. The nearest town is Dereham (10 minutes), which has supermarkets, pizzerias and bars.

Electric hardstanding and grass pitch

Liked Nice well spaced pitches which were pretty level. Water and electric posts dotted round the site, all pitches were fairly close to one. The park itself is beautiful, with lovely walks round the fishing lakes.

Disliked Toilets and showers were not on the actual site and while serviceable, were not great. We were self contained so didn’t really use them.
