  • Peaceful adults-only holiday park 10 minutes' drive from Ramsey
  • A half-hour drive to Ely; 20 minutes to Decoy Lakes coarse fishery
  • Fishing on site, either in the lake or on River Nene
Which is better – lake fishing or river fishing? Decide for yourself at Riverside Lake and Leisure, a Cambridgeshire holiday park that has both right there on site. As you may imagine for a site in the Fens and on the banks of the River Nene, it’s all rather scenic around here – and it’s pretty peaceful too, as this is an adults-only site (although you're welcome to bring dogs along). It all makes for an excellent setup for a break centred around fishing, in which you’ll be free to merrily meander between lakeside and river shore as you wish (and if that’s not enough, take an outing to Decoy Lakes, one of the UK’s leading coarse fisheries, 20 minutes’ drive away). That’s not to say that it all has to be about the fishing though: this site is equally well set for rural rambles or bike rides, or for days out in Ely and Cambridge. Closer to home, the local town of Ramsey (10 minutes’ drive) has two golf courses, and there’s another in Pidley (20 minutes) along with a bowling alley. Between all those local towns and villages (along with bigger Huntingdon and Peterborough, 15 miles away) you should be all sorted for restaurants, pubs and takeaways, plus supplies for picnics or for evenings by the barbecue back on site. A bathroom block on site has separate male and female toilets and showers (but please note that unfortunately these are not wheelchair-friendly).

What customers say

This is a highly recommended, peaceful, adult-only campsite situated in a tranquil rural setting. Visitors consistently praise the immaculate, modern toilet and shower facilities, spacious and level pitches, and the friendly, helpful owners. The site's quiet atmosphere, lovely lake, and surrounding natural beauty are frequently highlighted. While some mention poor mobile signal and the remoteness of the location, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many planning return visits.

Liked What a wonderful site great lake to walk around very peaceful with good facilities
I would love to stay again but wouldn't because of the roads to the site

Disliked OMG as previously stated in a review the roads in the surrounding area are the worst you will ever see in villages
The subsidence has caused huge dips and these are very dangerous
If you do visit, please be careful
It's a shame for such a lovely campsite to be surrounded by that
If I lived in that area i would be contacting the transport secretary to report the council for allowing the roads to get that bad

Liked Riverside Lake & Leisure was set amongst a stunning lake and river lined with bullrushes and wild flowers so ideal for my hobby of photography.

I was privileged to have a beautiful sunset so I was able to capture some amazing pictures.

The facilities of toilet shower and kitchen were immaculate and all under the same roof.

I loved my relaxing peaceful stay at this immaculate campsite and highly recommend it. Well done!

Electric grass touring pitch (XL)

Liked Well kept peaceful site.

Disliked The road B1095 known as (Milk and Water Drove) getting to the site from the A1 heading South. This road is the worst I've driven on in the UK and is dangerous due to heavy subsidence in lots of places.

Liked The whole campsite is extremely well maintained and we especially enjoyed the spotless sanitary building with shower cabins that had an extra glass door inside the shower cabin, so that the clothes yoleave in the cabin can't get wet. Great place to relax.

Local attractions

Fishing for some more wildlife-geared activities? Then, you’ll be in a good place to do so, as the Lattersey Local Nature Reserve (20 minutes' drive) has a good load of animals and plants and the Raptor Foundation has a birds of prey display (25 minutes). For more of the actual fishing, if you haven’t already had your fill on site, Decoy Lakes coarse fishery (20 minutes) is a short drive away. Onto some new horizons… it may be a little further out, but Cambridge (an hour) has all the makings of a good afternoon out, from college tours to punting on the river or browsing through the Fitzwilliam Museum. Ely Cathedral (half an hour) is another of those good historic sites, and there’s another cathedral in Peterborough (half an hour), along with a greyhound track and the Nene Valley Railway. That’s one heritage railway, but there’s another at the Fenland Light Railway (five minutes’ walk), which has a narrow-gauge steam train and locomotives. Once you’ve had a good look at the world of the railways, Ramsey Rural Museum (10 minutes’ drive) will move you onto countryside life in the 17th century.
