  • On the banks of the River Severn, two miles from Worcester city centre
  • Close to the M5, 15 minutes' drive from the Malvern Hills
  • Fishing on site; riverside walk from site to city centre
City strolls or countryside wanders – which one might you fancy while on your Worcestershire break? If the answer is ‘a bit of both, actually’ then you’ll likely find Ketch Caravan Park a most convenient spot indeed. This peaceful and family-friendly park with spacious pitches is on the banks of the River Severn, around two miles from Worcester city centre. A riverside footpath runs from the site to the city’s shops and attractions; alternatively you can drive it in five minutes or so. As well as providing pleasant strolls into town, the river also supplies a pretty backdrop for the site, with the Malvern Hills visible in the distance (another good place for lovely long stroll, of course). Guests can go fishing in the river directly from the site too. Getting in, out and around to local attractions is very straightforward from here: the park is handily placed close to the A4440 and only a few minutes’ drive from the M5. That makes it both a nifty stopover point on a longer motorway journey and a good place to settle for rural rambles (with a dog, if you’ve got one you’d like to bring along on holiday) and days out visiting the likes of Tewkesbury, Snowshill Manor and Evesham. Barbecues are allowed on site, and there’s a rather handy supermarket just outside the site for supplies if you don’t fancy the trip to town for dinner. As for the site’s own facilities, they include a modern amenities block with showers and toilets including a family room and wet room, a laundry room and a washing-up area. There is also a chemical disposal point on site.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Close to shops, restaurants and a lovely riverside walk into Worcester.

Disliked: Not enough toilet facilities only 2 male & 2 female, shower hand were too low, plus they were a really good walk away (which wasn't good as rained a lot). Also electric kept tripping off not but not just the person overloading it, it took out the whole touring section.

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: The position of the site right on the riverbank was fantastic, lots of amenities like shops and restaurants just outside site, lovely 20-25 minute walk along side river and canal into Worcester

Disliked: Toilet block a bit far from pitches, could do with another flight of steps in middle of pitches as only one set right at the end

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked: Nice entrance gates and location

Disliked: This caravan park has undergone up grade and we stayed there on the first weekend of opening Easter weekend , first impressions on arriving the entrance looked amazing new gates nice upgrade , and the road down to reception much better all new tarmac and trees cut back , and checked in at reception but be careful don’t use the handrail it’s not safe. Jake was very welcoming , then going to pitches it all went downhill the grass was long and then once walking on the pitches it was full of pot holes and ruts obviously from the diggers working doing the new electric points , but obviously it was to much trouble to level the pitches up , there is no water any where near the pitches and there is a very steep set of steps which u could never get aqua-roll up or down and they haven’t even got a handrail on these steps , speaking to the wardens on site they was full of excuses , so if you want to stay on this site be prepared for half a mile round trip to get your water or empty your toilet , the electric tripped 5 times on the Saturday morning in one hour and it takes the whole site out, it took 3 hours to cook breakfast. All in all they got a long way to go to improve this site

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: Proximity to Worcester.

Disliked: Facilities block way too far for touring pitches.
Steps leading up embankment no handrail.
Grass ridiculously long.
Accused of over staying.
Electric supplies inadequate when busy.

From the manager: Hi Paul
Thank you for your review.
I must say I am annoyed by it.
You had stayed before the re development and as you are well aware the loo block is in the same building and the water is where it was before.
As the touring field floods each year you cannot have the facilities or the water on that level as it would obviously flood and the water would be contaminated

It has great potential

Electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked: We liked the location. We liked the gate security.

Disliked: We didn’t like the toilet/Shower block . The only hooks for your clothes /towel was inside the shower. No where to get undressed /dressed.
We didn’t like the fact bins weren’t emptied from the showers / toilet block daily .
It seems very much a work in progress.

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked: Site location. Level pitches with good view over river.

Disliked: Being accosted by man when calling at reception. Sign said open, so knocked and entered to be greated by an angry man prepared to offer violence. Not pleasant.
The site is currently preparing for a comprehensive refurbishment So the site is like a waste land in places.
May visit again once refurbished

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked: Great location by the river Severn, riverside walk into Worcester. Aldi, B&M, Toby Carvery and a Harvester all within 100 metres of the site entrance.

Disliked: Toilet block a bit "tired", reasonably clean but quite a lot of cobwebs and minor maintenance issues that weren't being addressed. Grass on the pitches was too long. The site has a large area for mobile homes behind the touring pitches, most of these were vacated, but with debris from the associated decking and block supports scattered around, the mobile homes still there looked, in the main, abandoned, so the whole site had an air of neglect about it. It turns out that the site owners are evicting all the mobile home owners and requiring them to move their mobile homes by the end of November. There is clearly something going on at this site, it's future is unclear. If it does re-open next year then I would be very wary of re-visiting unless I was assured the site and facilities were in good order.

Local attractions

Presumably you’ll want to start in Worcester – and that’s a good choice, whether you amble along the riverbank or take the five-minute drive. Once you’re in the city centre, stop by at the cathedral and the Tudor House Museum for a sense of the area’s history and admire the pretty pieces on display at the Museum of Royal Worcester. There’s more history to be explored at places like the Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings (20 minutes’ drive), where you can see a collection of restored and rebuilt buildings of various kinds, and the smart Eastnor Castle (half an hour) and Snowshill Manor and Gardens (40 minutes). Meanwhile, music buffs can follow the Elgar Route to take in some of the scenery that inspired the composer and see some of the places where he lived and worked. For some outdoor time, explore the grounds of Spetchley Park Gardens (five minutes), which has been in the same family for over 400 years, or head to the highest point in the Malvern Hills at Worcestershire Beacon (20 minutes).
