Grass pitches

  • Peaceful campsite in the small Warwickshire village of Hampton Lucy
  • Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle both 15 minutes’ drive
  • Off-grid site with well-kept pitches; Charlecote Park 20 minutes’ walk
When you’re after peaceful, no-frills camping, that’s exactly what you get at Hampton Lucy Holiday Park, a pop-up site 15 minutes’ drive from historic Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire. Dogs and kids are welcome; there’s plenty of room on the extensive camping field for running around with the former and a big play area for the latter, as well as walks along the River Avon close by for keeping everybody nicely exercised. The well-kept grass pitches are surrounded by greenery, with simple facilities covering basic loos at the side of the field and picnic tables for alfresco eating on warmer days. Just to be clear, there is no drinking water and no electricity here, so bring in your own bottled water and pack torches for getting around the camping field after dark. So – a quiet rural location but so much to do close by… National Trust - Charlecote Park (five minutes’ drive/20 minutes’ walk) is a sprawling 12th-century masterpiece with decorative-arts collections and formal knot gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon theatres and famed landmarks including Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage are practically on the doorstep, and if you’re holidaying with the kids, Warwick Castle (15 minutes) is a one-stop entertainment hub with jousting competitions, live shows and bird of prey displays.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Nothing! Didn’t even stay 😡

Disliked: Couldn’t even get the tent up because the ground is not fit to hold pegs it’s full of stones! Had both dogs with us and we had to turn around and pay for another site half an hour away as this ruined our camping trip!

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: sorry you had such a bad experience with us but its a 5 acre site and i find it impossible that you couldn't knock your pegs in the ground. our site is very basic as it says on the pitchup website if you were expecting anything more than Portaloos and a grass field you obviously should have gone elsewhere in the first place.

Very basic site.

Non-electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked: Wide open space

Disliked: Over priced for what is just a field with a Portaloo. No signage to find the site. Spent 1/2 hour driving round before contacting mobile number on site and getting directions.

From the manager: I'm sorry i fail to understand your comment, it is clearly stated on the Pitchup website what our site offers. it is very basic and i suggest better research in future when booking.

Non-electric grass and gravel pitch

Liked: To be fair not much to say
It was what it said on the tin
A field with no sign post to find the location.
2 porta loos in the field . They were clean ( I’m guessing because of the lack of customers )
There was us and another van that turned up later.
We were looking to stay near the Mambo festival. Warwick.
Our fault left it way too late and could only find this location.
£20 per night no EHU as advertised
No showers as advertised
No on site lights as advertised
We would not go back I’m afraid.
Shame really it could be a fantastic location.

Disliked: The price. To expensive for what it is
A field with 2 porta loos 😂😂

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Lovely open space allowed us to see the beautiful sunset and sunrise. It was a very peaceful night's sleep.

Disliked: The ground is filled with stones so it was difficult to find a place to pitch the tent, however, I do only have bog standard tent pegs and I 100% need to invest in a mallet!

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Lovely people running the site. We were the first campers so had the whole site to ourselves which was great! Very peaceful location.

Disliked: Once established a toilet/shower block would be great.
