  • Cosy Warwickshire farm site
  • A couple of minutes' drive from Twycross Zoo
  • Dogs and barbecues allowed
Slap, bang and exceedingly central: if you like to burrow deep into countryside for a good time and still be glitteringly close to towns, cities and well-known attractions, Gopsall Hall Farm is the place to be. A base for you and the kids – and the dogs – at Gopsall Hall Farm will put your holiday party a couple of minutes from Twycross Zoo and less than six miles from Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and the National Forest. The city lights of Leicester are about 45 minutes’ drive to the east, Derby about an hour north, and the galleries and museums of busy Birmingham about half an hour away – just as well the set-up back at base is delectable… Each canvas glamping unit has electric hook-up and sleeps up to five humans and three dogs; bed linen is provided but please bring your own sleeping bags and towels. Barbecues are allowed on site, and each unit also comes with an outdoor firepit to use free of charge. No need to bring plates or utensils either: potter over to The Barn, a heated communal space with a small kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is only provided for bell tent guests, but those staying on the other pitches have access to luxury showers and hairdryers (better keep the barnet in tip(i)-top condition for all those nearby day trips).

No.1 tipi (deluxe, hot tub, no pets)

Liked: Space within the Tipi was surprisingly bigger than expected. Loved the little touches - candles, electric heated mat for the bed, fairy lights, dressing robes, and some basics supplied in the kitchenette to make a hot drink.
Wooden and modern feel to the showers/toilet area which was always clean.
The fire stove inside the tipi was adequate for the evenings, taking the chill out of the air and plenty of wood supplied for our 4 night stay. 1 bucket inside and 1 crate for the fire pit outside.
Hot tub was heated prior to our arrival and with views over the fields.
Lovely quite site off-season.

Liked: Absolutely everything, the micro pub, the converted barn into a pub with live music.! The toilet blocks and reception area are second to none.! Obviously no expense spared when designing and building the campsite.! The setting is absolutely beautiful.!

Disliked: Short staffed, the onsite shop was never open.! But we went at the end of the season.! So can’t be helped I suppose.!

Liked: We absolutely loved our stay at Gopsall Hall Farm. Pitch was lovely and flat up near the reception/shop/toilets. Staff were all very friendly. Great to have the barn bar on site with entertainment in the evening on the Saturday.

Disliked: Toilets/showers although only a year or so built, they were quite dirty especially in the toilets. I get it's a busy campsite but you can tell they don't have a full clean regularly.

Liked: Cannot fault the site at all. Staff were friendly and helpful. Toilets and showers spotlessly clean. Felt very relaxed. Pitches a good size with plenty of space for kids to play. And electric pitches during the holidays for a great price. Will definitely visit again.

All toilets and showers were extremely clean. Water hot .nice little cafe and shop on site.stayed in the week so unfortunately pub not open till weekends. Will definitely book again and would recommend to family and friends we are local to the area and was a great place to take grandkids camping for a few days.

Local attractions

To the zoo! Less than two miles from base, Twycross Zoo and World Primate Centre is the only place in the UK where visitors can gibber to all species of great ape among its thousand or so residents from 200 species. The zoo has a nature reserve and soft play area too to swing around in, and daily activities like keeper talks and animal feeds (wave at the meerkats when they pop up for supplies each morning and the penguins waddling around each afternoon). Twycross is at Atherstone, Gopsall Hall Farm’s local town on the border with Leicestershire – the Coventry Canal runs through town too to snap scenic shots along the towpath including ones of the Coventry Art Trail, public pieces put up here by local artists. Since Rick 3 was rediscovered in 2012 under a Leicestershire car park, interest in the possibly-bad king has skyrocketed, so make room for a day at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre to find out all the up-to-date info. (Sadly, however, whether he did bump off his nephews in the Tower is still a matter of fierce academic debate). Townwise, Market Bosworth and Ashby-de-la-Zouch, possible adolescent home of one Mr Adrian Mole, Esq, are both within ten to 15 miles for additional day trips: make it midweek for the former as Bosworth’s Wednesday market has been running since the 13th century.
