Woods by dog walking field

  • Peaceful and friendly site in the Shropshire Hills
  • Walkers' paradise with many strolls and hikes close by
  • Animals to meet on site; eggs and meat available to buy
Bring those boots made for walking, for you'll be hungry for the hikes around Shropshire's Teds Farm Camping. Based in Sheriffhales about four miles from Telford, this peaceful, friendly and popular little site is in land where walks are all around, meandering for miles through the wildlife havens of the green Shropshire countryside. Ted's is a smallholding, with grass pitches on a gently sloping field set among the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Chickens and ducks wander the site – the kids are welcome to say hi or go and meet some of the menagerie at the animal paddock – and free-range eggs and fresh meat are usually available for sale. Among the well-maintained amenities are showers and toilets, chemical disposal points and facilities for charging and recycling. There's easy access from the site to Sheriffhales village, just off the main A5.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: We’ve just come back from a lovely stay at Ted’s Farm Camping with our 10-year-old and two dogs, and we couldn’t be happier. We were just testing out our new tent, but this place made the whole experience feel like a proper getaway!

The site is beautifully maintained—everything was spotless, especially the toilets, which were impressively clean. We had plenty of space on either side of our pitch, and the views were fantastic.

There were some brilliant walks nearby, which our dogs absolutely loved, and it was a real treat to see the chickens and other animals down at the end of the farm. The little on-site shop was quite new during our visit, but it already looked gorgeous and promising—can’t wait to see it once it’s fully stocked!

Massive hats off to Ted and Liz for creating such a welcoming spot. We didn’t catch the young lad’s name who was working the till, but everyone we met was super friendly and helpful. We’d absolutely recommend Ted’s Farm to anyone looking for a peaceful, family-and-dog-friendly place to camp.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Lovely clean site. Pitches are an excellent size. Owners are friendly and easy going to how you set up your pitch. Toilets were nice and clean. Great location - telford a drive away with plenty of activities for the children.

Disliked: The shower cubicles are small - hard to wash with young children. There are no disabled facilities either.
Could do with a play area for the children on site.

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Really welcoming and well maintained site.

Owners very friendly and helpful.

Toilet blocks very clean.

Site very pretty, good dog walking field and some chickens for the children to see.

15 minute drive and you’re into a very developed area with lots to do and places to eat. Then 15 minutes back to peace and tranquillity.

We had a serviced hard standing pitch. Views very nice from the van.

I did not log onto the site wifi but I have rated 5 star as I was able to use 4G and we were able to steam Netflix on TV on the evening through our hotspot.

Disliked: Couldn’t fault it.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Tucked away down a quiet country road is this beautiful campsite surrounded by greenery and forest, meet the chickens in the morning and if your really lucky you might even find a freshly laid egg for breakfast.
Visit the farm shop for a range of locally sourced produce from fresh meat to chocolate treats and even a cheeky wine or two!
With various pitches available this is a great place for all level of campers, facilities on site Include toilet & shower block great if your planning a longer stay.
Local to some great places for family days out including Telford park, exotic zoo and more.
We booked with family for a long weekend stay that was unfortunately cut a day short due to heavy rain (not ideal when camping) however we are already looking at booking again for the summer. Minnie

Local attractions

As you'll have brought your sturdy boots, stride out into the Shropshire Hills AONB in any direction for green countryside and wildlife haven walks, or drive in the Telford direction for a woodland wander around Wrekin Forest. Striding around establishments is also a topping option when on holiday in any locale, so check out the craft and antique shops, tearooms and pubs, grocers and butchers of the region's market towns like Ellesmere, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Bishops Castle, Ludlow, Much Wenlock and Bridgnorth. Set in the centre of Shropshire on the River Severn, the Tudor town of Shrewsbury is also well worth a wander, for more shopping (but of course), Shrewsbury Abbey and Shrewsbury Castle, the museum and art gallery, town centre park and – if you're in town in mid-August – the famed Shrewsbury Flower Show. Also around in Shropshire and its surrounds are award-winning museums, lushly green gardens, farms and abbeys, historic houses managed by the National Trust and English Heritage, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ironbridge Gorge Museums, about 20 minutes' drive from Teds Farm Camping.
