  • Luxurious adults-only touring park with easy access from the A49
  • A 15-minute drive to Shrewsbury, Attingham Park or Carding Mill Valley
  • Peaceful dog-friendly site 10 minutes' walk from Dorrington village
Smart Shropshire stays are what’s on offer at Stoney Acres Luxury Holiday Park, a peaceful adults-only touring site in a handy location just off the A49 about 15 minutes’ drive south of Shrewsbury. Easy access to the main road means that it’s simple to get out and explore your surroundings from this park, whether you’re heading up into town, going south into the Shropshire Hills National Landscape or aiming to take in places like Ludlow and the museums of Ironbridge. Once you’ve parked up on site, you can leave the car behind and get around by public transport if you prefer. Handy bus services to Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton leave from the nearby village of Dorrington (10 minutes’ walk away). There are plenty more useful things in the village too – it’s got a village shop, a butchers, a restaurant and a gastropub to make mealtimes easy (whether you’re doing your own cooking or eating out). Back on site, you’ll be staying at a pretty park with landscaped grounds and the extra level of peace you get from a child-free environment. As the name suggests, everything here has been designed to give a sense of luxury to your stay – the bathrooms, for example, have underfloor heating, rainfall showers and granite worktops, along with handy extras like hair dryers. Each pitch has a 16-amp electric supply, a drinking water and waste water facility and a digital TV hookup, and you’ll also have access to shared facilities including a laundry room, ultrafast fibre wifi and a dog wash station to avoid muddy paws after walks with your four-legged pal. The modern design also means this park is fully accessible to guests with disabilities.

The site was well lit for evenings.

Genuinely couldn't fault a thing

Liked: Love everything about this site our second time here and I'm sure it won't be our last. The amenities are amazing, clean, modern and the showers are not the push button ones which is a huge plus. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. The bus stop is a short walk along a very busy road, we got there an hour early so ended up ordering a Uber into Shrewsbury which is very nice and next time I'd like to visit Ludlow which is about 30 minutes away.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike at this site .

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch (XL)

Liked: What a superb site! We stayed for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A terrific welcome from Shar set us up. The facilities were the best we have ever come across and superbly looked after. The location next to a stream meant lots of wildlife. The access to Shrewsbury and the Shropshire Hills was exactly what we wanted. Would definitely return. Others have mentioned the noise from the quarry and train, but neither interrupted our stay.

Disliked: Nothing!

Fully-serviced gravel and hardstanding touring pitch (large)

Liked: The site is exceptional. They have the best shower and toilet facilities we have ever seen. They have thought of everything. Shower gel and soaps, tissues, cotton buds etc. Huge shower cubicles and a large drying area means no wet towels/clothes and the underfloor heating ensures toasty feet and dry floors.
The pitches are largely level with hard standing and are all fully serviced. Well situated to visit Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Hawkstone Follies and lots of other places.
The owners are helpful, full of local knowledge and keep the whole site pristine and the grass well manicured.

Disliked: There was some road noise and construction noise but it wasn’t intrusive and would not prevent us from thoroughly recommending this site.

Liked: Everything. Small secure well maintained site. Staff were helpful. Toilet/showers were clean & warm...very luxurious tbh. Lovely big showers, water was hot & water pressure lovely. Provided shower gel/liquid soap & hand moisturiser. Plus cotton wool pads/balls & buds. It's just off a very busy road but the noise didn't affect us at all. Some noise from farm next door but its a working farm so also didn't bother us.
10 min walk into small village that has a shop & pub.
Good WiFi signal & loved the little welcome gift of uht milk, biscuits etc in a net bag. Cute 💗
Adult only which we like

Local attractions

The Shropshire Hills National Landscape is well known as a lovely place for a walk, and you’ll be in prime position to explore from Stoney Acres. Some of the best known places to head for are Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd (15 minutes’ drive) and the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve (35 minutes), but there are plenty of quieter trails to seek out too. There are lots of historic locations to visit around this area too – perhaps you’d like to stroll around the grounds of Attingham Park Estate (15 minutes), step further back in time at Wroxeter Roman City (15 minutes) or get to know the various museums of Ironbridge Gorge (half an hour), a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of the Industrial Revolution. For more days out, find boat trips and canoe hire in Shrewsbury (15 minutes) or head south to Ludlow (35 minutes) to browse its foodie shops, tour its gin distillery and see its ruined castle.
