Grass pitch with water and electricity
One of the spacious hardstanding pitches with water, waste and electricity

  • Small and serene family-run site with scenic fishing lakes
  • A 10-minute drive from Retford and 15 minutes from Worksop
  • Play area, wifi, shop and café; angling and barbecues permitted
Tote your caravan along to the small and secluded family-run site at Torworth Lakes and settle down at a spacious pitch overlooking a selection of lush fishing lakes. Another plus for this park? The location. Close to some of Nottinghamshire’s most-visited attractions, it’s a fab base for touring National Trust sites, historic market towns and kids’ adventure centres. Have a chat with the team about the main spots to visit – the staff here have all sorts of smashing suggestions up their sleeves. You could also ask them about places to eat, but don’t be surprised if they recommend the on-site café, which serves up mouth-watering grub including breakfasts and cakes. There’s also a well-stocked farm shop for grabbing ingredients – think artisan bread, in-season fruit and veg, and locally sourced meat – particularly handy if you’ll be making the most of the fact barbecues are allowed. Fishing is also permitted at this park, so anglers can sit down at purpose-built pegs and have a go at reeling in a variety of carp such as tench, barbel, koi, rudd, roach and orfe. Catch one of the biggest specimens and an award comes in the form of an edible treat. All sorts of caravanning preferences are catered for at this park as a handful of the pitches are enclosed hardstanding options with electric hook-ups, water and waste, while a further few are on grass with electricity and water. Kids have a playground to check out, and wifi is available as well. Please note there's only one toilet and shower on site, so bear this in mind when booking.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Lovely well maintained site. We stayed on a hardstanding pitch that was spacious and had a small hedge to give some privacy from your neighbours. There were only a small number of visitors that occupied the site, which made it very peaceful. There was a lovely cafe on site and a well maintained kids park, which my children enjoyed.
The setting is beautiful, 2 lovely lakes over looking the caravan site. We got to spot some local wildlife too- a heron and oystercatchers.

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Nice sized hedged pitches..

Disliked: What a disappointment!!

Campers are not catered for on this site do NOT BOOK!!

Turned up went to check in in the cafe a young lad served me gave me a rule book
/ key code and that’s the only time I seen or spoke to any members of staff in 4days not 1 person came round to check on us or to even say hi/morning or bye/night before they all went home at 4.30-5oclock.. They are more interested in the cafe/Deli then the campers..
I sent my bloke round to grab some drinks while we was fishing they only had glass bottles of coke at £3 a bottle, once again not catering for the campers..

The lakes 🙈 5 lakes with about 30+ pegs and you could only get to 3 the rest were underwater all the paths around the lakes where flooded/Over grown this isn’t a bad winter this is a couple years worth of neglect.. They was so over grown you couldn’t even cast out let alone get a fish in 🙈..
They charged £8 a day PP..

None of this was mentioned on booking..
We came to fish & was very disappointed in the state of the lakes clearly not been looked after in years..
They could’ve mentioned on booking that the lakes where over gown/flooded.. I wouldn’t have booked if so..

As a family we was very unhappy with this campsite & will not be returning.. it has a lot of potential it would be a beautiful place if lakes where cleaned up & manager/staff made more of a effort with there campers not just dump us in a field n forget about us..
Only thing they care about is the cafe and locals that come in..

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: Good sized fully serviced pitches with view of the lakes and cafe. Cafe was lovely, friendly and good food.
Handy stopover for travelling on the A1.

Disliked: No time space between people coming in and leaving. Meant to leave by 11am, I was hitching up at 10.35 and there was already someone sitting waiting for my spot. I felt very pressured to leave. Then 5 min later, as I was driving out, someone else started driving in through the narrow gap. They reversed so I could drive over the grass to pass. This timing need sorted, they should give people a chance to leave before letting others in. Toilet (only 1 for site) had dried on poo and not cleaned, so obviously not checked daily.

Liked: Open space, lovely view of the lake. Quiet area but still close to amenities. Toilets and shower block were very clean. Nice little park to keep the children busy. I did not visit the cafe but looked popular with plenty of people inside.

Liked: Friendly welcoming staff in restaurant, good pre arrival information

Disliked: site needs some love/ TLC. Nothing to walk to and pathway to site facilities from pitch flooded so needed to walk back round to main site to use if needed, this should have been communicated upon booking as had no idea of this until tried to walk to them. Food prices were high I feel for what was offered, presented poorly my husband’s scampi meal looked like a school dinner! Site lights bollards not working so really run down looking site. Have stayed in the past before so know it has declined. Less stock in the boutique/shop etc also. Also on a busy road do very noisy

Electric hardstanding and grass touring pitch

Liked: The area found some nice places to eat and the farmers market. On site restaurant and shop were lovely and the staff couldn’t do enough.

Disliked: Very poor lighting at entrance, post lights on the track weren’t working, no pitch light so had to use car headlights to see, no lit directions to pitches, no staff on site. Pitch dirty and obviously not checked after last guest, it had a pile of cigarette ends on it. Nightmare getting in and out of gates when closed. Needs electric barriers. Too top off it off got a text on Saturday saying if anyone is seen turning up the grass due to the wet weather then you will be charged to your debit card. Maybe if there was adequate lighting it might help?!?! Wouldn’t return unless improvements are made. I have made a direct review to the site but this hasn’t been acknowledged which is poor!
