  • Eco-friendly glamping on a large field with pond and canal frontage
  • North of the village of Haltham; five minutes' drive from Horncastle
  • Dog-friendly site with private toilets, showers and cooking facilities
Bain View Glamping is a peaceful Lincolnshire glamping site just north of the small village of Haltham. Guests staying in this stately six-metre bell tent have access to a peaceful five-acre pasture with gorgeous views over the countryside and easy access to miles of waterside walks along the Bain Canal. Inside, the stylish accommodation is comfortably kitted out with proper beds for up to four, soft furnishings, bed linen, towels and lights. There's also a firepit just outside where you can settle down as dusk creeps in, as well as a well-maintained eco toilet, a shower and a cooking area for meal prep in the open air. This off-grid site has a green approach to glamping and is partly powered by renewable energy sources, but that doesn't mean you’ll have to miss out on comforts like warm water or charging stations. Well-behaved dogs are welcome. Bain View Glamping is a mere five-minute drive from the historic market town of Horncastle, a handy hub on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where there are several great cafés, pubs and shops. And if you're inspired by the classy decoration on show back at base, it's also good to know that this area is famed for its antiques and collectables

The Vineyard shepherd's hut

Liked: Very clean
Although there was a main road outside it didn't impact us at all.

Hut Tanganyika shepherd's hut

Liked: This was my second stay at Bain View and I decided to stay for 7 nights this time to make the most of it. I spent a lot of time on site enjoying the peaceful surroundings and reading in front of the fire ☺️

I definitely recommend staying for a week rather than just a few days, it’s such a gorgeous place!

The owners are lovely and I will be booking my third trip soon 😌

Hut Tanganyika shepherd's hut

Liked: We had an amazing time. The hut was lovely with thoughtful touches such as board games and an extended lead for the dog so she could roam (somewhat) freely when we were outside. We loved the hammock and the view too. The beds were comfy and we had no issues with phone signals/data. The location is excellent with lots to see and do in the vicinity. The owners were very helpful and responsive. We cannot recommend this place enough.

Disliked: Leaving!

The Vineyard shepherd's hut

Liked: Good location for exploring the Wolds and coast. Lovely views across fields, pond and trees. Lovely cosy hut, well appointed with lots of private area outside to sit and relax. Really did deliver on the wildlife front. We saw Heron and Egrets. A pair of Buzzard being kept busy by their young. Hare and Fox and on the last night we were treated to beautiful views of a Barn Owl hunting over the fields behind the hut. Would definitely recommend.

Disliked: Take ears plugs if you are a light sleeper as there is a bit of road noise (curse of the modern age unfortunately) but not intrusive.

Hut Tanganyika shepherd's hut

Liked: This place is wonderful! The location is great, with lovely views, the plots are really far apart and come with so much outdoor space… even a hammock. I also saw 13 bird species on site, plus many many rabbits!
The actual unit was clean and so well thought through. The decor was perfect- an African theme of course for the hut named Tanganyika 🩶 a lovely pond outside too (not quite as big as lake Tanganyika) 😏
So nice, and I have already booked my next trip there 👍🏼

The Vineyard shepherd's hut

Liked: The accommodation was a little home away from home. Very spacious for the two of us and cosy. The hut included everything you could possibly need for a 2 night stay away, from tea bags and coffee to shampoo and shower gel. All the kitchen utensils and equipment was included so meant we didn't have to take everything with us. We enjoyed the view of sheep and the tranquillity of the place. Lots of rabbits running around in the field next door so it was a nice view for washing the dishes. Lots of birds and the odd duck landed on the pond.

Disliked: The road was close so you could hear the traffic but it wasn't an issue and it got quieter at night. It didn't distract too much from the other sounds of nature.

Colonial bell tent

Liked: Beautiful accommodation, in a lovely scenic location. Peaceful and relatively private. Really comfortable beds, and everything was well thought out.

Disliked: Sound of the road and no blind on the glass doors, so it got bright early!

Hut Tanganyika shepherd's hut

Liked: Everything was absolutely stunning-the hut is immaculate with the comfiest bed and best shower we've ever used! The first night there we saw hundreds of stars and the milky way because it is a dark sky area, from the hut we saw sheep, cows, bats, cranes, dragonflies, hares and swallows that swooped down into the pond to catch their tea, the sunsets were amazing and it was awesome watching the military jets and aircraft flying overhead in the day, very central to lots of different areas, well done guys the whole experience was 11/10 .

Disliked: Disliked nothing-but maybe a non-ticking clock would be useful in the hut and a few fairy lights around the inside of the pagoda.
