  • Adults-only site near Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire countryside
  • A 30-minute drive to the Lincolnshire Wolds; 40 minutes to Lincoln
  • Fishing lake on site; pubs, shops and a spa 10 minutes’ drive away
Up for peaceful times with pretty views? Rosewood Waters Retreat, hidden away in rural Lincolnshire, could be the place. From the moment you arrive, you can relax and absorb fantastic countryside views – and due to its location, the site is in pole position for spectacular sunsets and sunrises (should you ever be up that early). The peaceful vibe on site is guaranteed to remain just that way too, as this is an adults-only park that does not accept single-sex parties or groups under 25 years old. The site is centred around a quiet lake where guests can relax around the water's edge. If you’re travelling as a family, there are plenty of easy walks and cycle routes through flat Fenland woods and heath direct from the site, with the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Beauty close by too. Also nearby is the half-timbered town of Woodhall Spa (10 minutes’ drive), where you can source stuff for the barbecue, get a quick caffeine fix in cafés or pick up dinner from takeaways. Meanwhile, if you fancy an indulgent treat, book a treatment at the luxurious spa nearby.

Local attractions

First stop is pretty Woodhall Spa (10 minutes’ drive), to spend a morning rummaging in antique shops, fending off a rainy day by catching a classic film at The Kinema In The Woods or pottering around the local history museum. Also worthy of your attention in this folksy little village is the Dambusters Memorial, celebrating the daring of 617 Squadron in World War II. You can tee off on several golf courses within a 15-minute drive, or swim laps in Woodhall Spa’s heated outdoor pool (10 minutes). Should you wish to up the ante with a spot of wild swimming, head for the dune-backed beaches at Skegness (50 minutes) or Mablethorpe (an hour), where kids and dogs can also tear around safely. Historic Lincoln (40 minutes) makes a lovely spot for day trips; you can tour the soaring Gothic cathedral, home to a 17th-century library designed by Sir Christopher Wren, walk the medieval ramparts and check out a copy of the Magna Carta in the castle. The lovely Old Town is crammed with indie boutiques and pubs, or you can dine on the romantic riverside at Brayford Waterfront.

Hurricane 2 bedroom lodge (four person)

Liked: Absolutely everything, retreat is certainly the right name for this place. We arrived quite stressed and tired in between moving houses. Within a few hours we felt ourselves relaxing and our wrinkles disappearing in the beautiful place. The private hot tub was the icing on the cake!
The owners Trish and Ken were lovely and gave us some ideas of where to go to eat.

Disliked: Nothing

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked: We were the only ones on the caravan/motorhome pitches, they have some nice residential caravans adjacent to hire. The site is very peaceful, we booked for one night but stayed for three. The managers are friendly and check that you are ok but leave you to yourselves. The owner also takes the time to speak whilst walking her dogs and is open to ideas regarding the site. Hopefully more people will use the site as word gets around. Only a 10 mins drive to Woodhall Spa.
Toilet clean and tidy.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike
