  • Well-maintained family-run park next to a nature reserve
  • A 10-minute drive to central Lincoln; 45 minutes to the coast
  • Well-stocked fishing lake on site; next to the River Witham for walks
The scenic and mercifully flat landscape of Lincolnshire makes it a popular pick for outdoor holidays full of walks and bike rides – and the pitches at family-run Seven Acre Farm Campsite make an excellent base for exploring the area. Come along here and you’ll be staying at a working stables in a woodland area next to a nature reserve. You’ll meet donkeys and pygmy goats among the gang on site, and may well spot some wilder visitors too (keep an eye out for the kingfishers that sometimes flit around the lake). It’s a thoroughly rural atmosphere but in fact very handy for urban amenities too – it’ll only take you 10 or 15 minutes to drive into the centre of Lincoln for its restaurants, shops and attractions, or you can hop on a bus just outside the farm. As for those outdoor activities, you can head straight out from the farm for several strolls in the local area, taking you along the banks of the River Witham to soak up some history at Bardney Abbey or to find a pint at a riverside pub a few miles away. The immediate area is pretty flat, but if you need something a little more challenging it’s not far to the Lincolnshire Wolds for some uphill/downhill action. And how about a bit of fishing? The farm has its own large fishing lake stocked with carp of up to 38lb, so you won’t have to go far for that. Other facilities on site include showers, toilets, a laundry room and a space where visiting dogs can have a run about. A pub and small supermarket are four miles away in the village of Bardney.

Electric grass pitch

Liked: Clean site with a decent shower and toilet, friendly staff.

Being woken up by the goats, sheep, donkeys and alpacas honking, bahing, and breying :-)

Disliked: Bit of a tight turn to the entrance gate and little warning of the entrance.

Electric gravel pitch

Liked: We liked that there were animals to see, a large pond, spacious pitches, games room and a gym.
The site was also safe and secure

Disliked: The electric gate is too close to the road, when we arrived this caught us out. It requires a pin that we had not been given prior to arrival, no one answered the bell so had to ring the phone number meanwhile the caravan was stuck out in the middle of the road on a bend which we feared was quite dangerous.
There were also builders working all week, so was fairly noisy

Electric gravel pitch

Liked: Absolute waste of money and time.

Disliked: Fishing pegs where flooded paid £10 per rod for 4 rods between me and my 3 sons no sign of any fish. Also the farm was booked out to a family with lots of very small children running around I have nothing against this but not the weekend fishing birthday holiday I had planned paid for 2 nights stayed 1 if I had of know the lake was flooded I wouldn't of bothered going and I paid £40 for fishing and £61 for 2 nights on a gravel pitch. It's nothing like on the pictures very disappointing and a wasted birthday I won't be returning 😫

Local attractions

There are lots of animals to meet on site, but if you’ve got an appetite to see some wilder beasts, you’ll need to head to Woodside Wildlife Park (10 minutes’ drive), or scoot over to the seaside and Donna Nook Grey Seal Colony (55 minutes). Tattershall Farm Park (half an hour) is a good choice if you’ve got the kids with you – as well as more animals to meet (and feed or handle) there’s an indoor play area and outdoor adventure play area. Leave the countryside behind for a day to explore the attractions of Lincoln (15 minutes) – the castle, cathedral and Bishops’ Palace are must-sees for history-heads, with the Usher Gallery a good alternative for art lovers. Outside the city, the Battle of Britain Memorial Centre (half an hour) makes an interesting visit too. For something a bit different, see what’s on at Lincolnshire Showground (20 minutes) or head over to Skegness, where you can loaf on the beach, play crazy golf or visit the aquarium.
