  • Small dog-friendly site surrounded by the Lincolnshire countryside
  • A 20-minute drive to Cleethorpes’ beach, boating lake and country park
  • Barbecues and firepits welcome; five minutes’ drive to shops and pubs
Looking for some downtime in pretty Lincolnshire? The Willows will soon have you building barbecues or dabbling in watersports on the Lincolnshire coast 20 minutes’ drive away. The small, friendly Laceby site is 15 minutes’ drive from Grimsby and 20 minutes from Cleethorpes and welcomes dogs and families. There’s plenty of countryside around The Willow for walking your little furry companions, and they’re sure to be well pleased with the leftovers you wind up with after your barbecues. The keen golfers among you might want to get out on the golf course next door. Come nightfall, rustle up a firepit if you’d like (or get yourself any early night for the next day’s adventures). If you’d like something tasty to much on around the pit, there are shops in Waltham five minutes’ drive away. And if you’d like to let someone else sort out your dinner for you, there’s also a bunch of takeaways, pubs and restaurants within five minutes’ drive of The Willow. There are handy public transport links in the towns too.

Electric grass and gravel campervan pitch

Liked: nothing

Disliked: Everything. Site not as shown by current pictures on pitch up. the lakeside pitches are all now luxury lodges. The touring part of the site is a field adjacent now. Also the facilities were limited and not very clean.
Also there was no wifi and mobile phone reception was terrible....

Electric grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: Site now focusing on lodges. All pitches around lake are taken by lodges and the field is also being prepared for lodges.
Fresh water was from a hose pipe lying on ground. Elsan disposal flushing has been disconnected and not maintained. Advised to empty grey waste down elsan point.
EHU using "doublers" to connect 4 vans into 2 points.
We cut our stay short, no staff around when we came to checkout.
We have stayed here previously and had really enjoyed it. I assume that eventually will become lodges only.

Non-electric grass and gravel tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Couldn't stay as tent was broke. It's a nice flat ground, two toilets and a shower (ladies). Nothing much around it but you could travel by car (didn't see any pavements on nearby roads) to get to amenities. Not far from Cleethorpes. It's great for your kids to run around.

Liked: Good flat pitches. Clean toilet and shower. Friendly welcome.

Disliked: Lack of signage. Nowhere did it say we were at The Willows, just Noah's Retreat.

Non-electric grass and gravel campervan pitch

Liked: This place is fast becoming a must go to site, yes there’s work going on right now but you can see what they’re trying and going to achieve. Beautiful surroundings, plenty of room, lodges to suit everyone and a nice size fishing lake. Everything on site from drinking water to loo waste removal, clean toilets and showers. The coast just 15 mins away, shops less than a mile and a friendly welcome on arrival. See you again soon, looking forward to seeing the site develop.

Disliked: Nothing for me personally but please realise there’s work being carried out so there will be noise during normal hours.

Local attractions

Get your coastal fix in Cleethorpes (20 minutes’ drive). The beach rents out single or double kayaks and paddleboards for those wanting to get out on the water and there’s a boating lake if you’d rather keep your paddles to a pedalo. Cleethorpes Country Park (20 minutes) is another popular spot, for cycles especially. Perhaps you’d like to inject a bit of history or education into your trip. One easy way to do this is by taking a ride on one of the UK’s oldest coastal miniature railways, the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway (20 minutes). Another is with a visit to Grimsby’s (15 minutes) minster and fishing heritage centre. Then, there’s the museum of rural life at the six-sail Waltham Windmill (five minutes) too. Lemurs, chameleons and meerkats, anyone? Kids can learn how to feed the zoo animals from the keepers at Jungle Zoo (20 minutes), a small family-run zoo.
