What customers say

This campsite is highly praised for its exceptional location adjacent to RAF Coningsby, offering superb opportunities for aircraft spotting, including Typhoons and historic aircraft. Reviewers frequently mention the friendly and helpful owner, Dawn, and appreciate the well-maintained, level pitches. While facilities are basic, including a single toilet and wash basin, most visitors acknowledge this in advance and find the site perfect for its intended purpose. Some minor criticisms include the price for the basic amenities and the access road, but the unique aviation focus is overwhelmingly seen as a significant bonus.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked Its all about location location location. Amazing for watching the planes at RAF Coningsby. Rustic site which is perfect for a quiet getaway. Exactly as described. Dawn is amazing and pops by daily and nothing is too much trouble. Small and friendly. Short walk to Farm shop (less than 20 mins) and can also walk into town (30ish mins)... loads to do in driveable distance. You may think it's a little pri ey for facilities but where else can you be runway side of an active base. If planes are your thing it's a bargain price.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked We wanted to see some planes and boy did we see some, Typhoons in abundance plus the BBMF returning from Blackpool - Lancaster, Spitfires and Hurricane. In addition to that we had an aerial display from Swallows/Swifts nesting in the barn, patridges and hares running around in the next door fields.

We loved it, a reminder of how caravanning used to be, a toilet and wash basin with cold running water only, in an out building and a pitch in the open counrtyside fantastic! We will definitely visit again.

Liked Location is key! Amazing place if you’re into planes.

Disliked The toilet really needs some money and time spent on it. No light, no room, no hot water.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked A great little site. Basic facilities but clean and perfectly adequate for our needs.
In the middle of agricultural fields so views all around. A twenty minute walk along a farm track to Coningsby where there are shops, cafes and pubs, and also buses to Lincoln or Boston. Dawn, the owner, was really friendly and popped along to check everything was ok. Wouldn't definitely stay again if we were over that way.

A must for any aviation enthusiasts. We will be returning.

Electric optional grass pitch

Liked The position of the campsite, very close to the eastern end of the runway which is the home of the Battle of Britain Flight. We watched both Hurricanes and the Lancaster return from displays. The Lancaster obliged us to several ‘circuits and bumps’, we suspect to let everyone on board a chance to do landings and take offs. There is also a quick reaction RAF squadron using the airfield. Also the owner is very kind and patient about our booking.

Liked Site location.

Disliked Not much effort put into site, fence made of old pallets, grass not kept well. Been on much better sites for half the price.

From the manager: Thankyou for your review Timothy T,

It pays to do your research fully before booking any Campsite/Campground 🙂

We are a Rustic Farm Stay Campground set up for Plane Spotters, due to our close proximity to the Airfield at RAF Coningsby.

The Pallet Fencing is a quirky touch to the Campground/Campsite to which you are staying on.
The Campsite was a working Pig Farm in the past so the grass was never a “Grass Field” to begin with.

However unless you have not been living in the UK since April, you should be well aware of the Hot Weather and “Heat Waves” we have had and continue to be experiencing.

We are very flexible with booking arrival times and accommodate if Customers wish to arrive first thing in the morning, so unfortunately if the
Campsite has more than 2 bookings on it we don’t mow the grass until its empty or worse case scenario 1x Pitch is occupied.

Kind Regards

Local attractions

Hot foot it to The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitors Centre (five minutes’ drive) for guided tours of the flight hangars, and visit the solemn Dambusters Memorial in Woodhall Spa, which commemorates 617 Squadron. Petwood Hotel (both 15 minutes) was the squadron’s Officers’ Mess in World War II, and you can see a dummy bouncing bomb in the grounds. The Blue Bell Inn (10 minutes) is a famed haunt of the 617 'Dambusters' and 627 squadrons who were based at RAF Woodhall Spa and billeted to Thorpe Camp Visitor Centre (10 minutes) during World War II. Look up at the beamed ceilings to see their signatures and the pennies they placed there for their next pint after the air raids. Other war-themed museums in the area include the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre (20 minutes), Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre (half an hour) and the International Bomber Command Centre (45 minutes), so there’s lots to keep historians busy. Travelling with the kids? Head for the fairground rides at Skegness and Ingoldmells (both 45 minutes), the dune-backed sands at Mablethorpe or the quiet beach at Sutton on Sea (both 55 minutes). You’re covered for rainy days too: the Kinema in the Woods in Woodhall Spa (15 minutes) shows blockbuster films in a 1920s cinema.
