What customers say

This is a beautifully kept, peaceful site set by lakes, offering a range of accommodation including pods and lodges. Visitors consistently praise the immaculate cleanliness of the facilities and accommodation. The site is particularly popular with anglers, who report excellent fishing opportunities. Staff are frequently mentioned as friendly and helpful, with many guests expressing a desire to return. Minor points raised include small shower cubicles and the site's quiet nature potentially being less suited for very young children.

1 bedroom camping pod

Liked I have just returned from a 2 night stay here. Rachel was so welcoming. The accommodation was clean and had a lot more extras than I had imagined. The toilets were near to the Pods. My son has just started fishing. There was loads of big carp to catch. Peaceful but yet not to far from , Skegness, Boston, car boots. Loved it so much, booking to come back next month.

The Hideaway shepherd's hut

Liked This was our second visit this year ,
We like the peaceful and well kept site .
Love the cleanliness of the facilities. They have a new dog excercise are which is a great addition to the site .
The hideaway has very spacious seating area outside and is very private which we like . Communication is very good about arrival and departure times etc
Rachel popped round to make sure everything was ok which is a nice touch .
Definitely will be back

Disliked The weekend wasn’t long enough

The Hive pod is outstanding designed to a high quality with all your main amenities.

Disliked The sofa bed .
It was hard to use and come apart each time in set up.

Hive camping pod

Liked Great little site just off the A52, with a range of caravans, lodges, camping pods and a variety of one off 'huts'. A great place to stay to explore the Lincolnshire Coast, but in a much more picturesque and quiet location than many of the beachfront sites locally. The site is- as advertised - unmanned, with no shop, food, park etc which is either a boon or a bust depending on what you're after. I do think it led to a quieter experience all round, and liked that there was no faffing to collect/hand back keys. We stayed in the 'Hive' which was great for 2 of us, and a luxurious step up from camping and well fitted with little comforts, including an in-built loo. Was also pleasantly to find sheets in the beds after being asked to bring all linen. Perfect size for our party of two. Both the accommodation and shower were spotless, and possibly some of the best kept I've ever been in on similar sized sites. Also expected to be eaten alive by bugs due to lakeside location but didn't have any issues at all.

Disliked It took us a lap or two on arrival to locate the two individual showers as we were looking for a larger, typical shower block and thought the actual showers were storage/utility cupboards they are so shall. There didn't appear to be a map of the site anywhere which might have helped. The showers were also very small, which meant it was difficult helping my young daughter with washing.

The Hive did get very warm at night - and was worse on the days we got back late, so didn't have time to vent with the windows. I think it might have been worse off we'd been the max occupancy of 4. Again, this is pictured so not hidden, but be mindful there is only indoor dining seating for 2 (though outdoor picnic bench for up to 8!) and the 3rd & 4th seat/bed is a sofa bed that takes up most of the indoor floor space.

The Hideaway shepherd's hut

Liked Amazing accommodation with so much outside space, and so peaceful. A real retreat after a day in the hustle and bustle of Skegness. The owner is lovely and very approachable. The accommodation has everything you need (kitchen utensils etc, even a torch for late night trips to the loo).

Doing a BBQ overlooking the lake is so relaxing. The kids enjoyed spotting fish, ducks and other wildlife from the pontoon before toasting marshmallows on the fireplace and playing board games outside before bed. Can't wait to come back!

Disliked Nothing!

Local attractions

It’s not all about the fishing – this is a fine place for folks who fancy a bit of rural rambling or riding. There are plenty of quiet lanes and footpaths around for a bike ride or a walk (excellent news for those bringing a canine pal), and some super nature trails for birdwatchers at the RSPB Freiston Shore reserve, 15 minutes away. Advanced equine handlers may be in the area for dressage lessons or competitions five minutes away at Sheepgate Equestrian; those with less refined skills or who just fancy seeing some of the countryside from horseback can join lessons or hacks from a riding centre 10 minutes away instead. Steer seawards and you’ll hit Skegness in about 15 minutes for beach days and trips to its aquarium, seal sanctuary and go-kart track. Head inland instead to visit the market town of Boston (20 minutes) for boat trips and the bubblecar museum, or take your shopoholic self to the antique centres of Horncastle, half an hour away.
