  • Holiday homes in the peaceful Golden Valley, half hour from Hereford
  • Wildlife haven with 17 acres of woodland walks
  • Fenced-off picnic area outside and lounge with TV and DVD player
Head to Herefordshire’s Golden Valley for prime panoramas – the name says it all at Woodlands and Orchard View Holidays. Drop your bags off in the accommodation, then look out for birds as you stroll through the site’s peaceful grounds and into 17 acres of leafy woodland, catching the views of the Black Mountains during your travels. The nearby River Dore – known for its fishing – adds to the scenic setting, and rumour has it that the sunsets from the park are spectacular. When the sun’s gone down, settle in for cosy evenings in your well-equipped space – get the kettle on and line up a DVD to watch on the TV for a film night in the lounge. Planning a family hol? The kids and dogs are welcome at these holiday homes set in the private grounds of Pontypinna Farm, half an hour’s drive from Hereford, so feel free to bring the whole gang along. The fenced-off picnic area means it’s easier to keep an eye on furballs and tiddlers when they’re outdoors. The owners helpfully supply blankets, duvets, pillows, bed linen, towels and tea towels, so you can travel light (well, as light as you can with a dog and kids in tow…).

Liked: Location was fantastic. Kids enjoyed feeding horse and donkey. Also there was a cat that always sat at our door and it was very friendly, kids loved feeding it. Caravan was spacious and clean. Kitchen facilities were good. There was also an attached toilet in the double bedroom added extra advantages!

Woodlands View 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: Another lovely, relaxing time at woodland view! Beautiful scenery with all the animals including a horse/pony with beautiful eyes and her friend a donkey and 2 sheep that hang around together in a little group and it was so nice for them to say hello everyday and to feed them some fruit and vegetables. Lovely walks up to the woods especially when the sun is going down, it is so peaceful 🙂 everything provided you could need and the bed was so cosy with lovely thick blankets we all slept so well. As for the locality for food/places to visit etc We got a brilliant Indian takeaway at Marygold Indian in Hereford which you can also sit in as well which we will definitely be going back to. The carvery called “bunch of carrots” in Hereford had amazing tasting food, definitely one of the best we have been to. We also visited the small breeds farm park in Kington which is definitely worth a visit as they have all sorts of animals including many different breeds of owls which were really interesting to see. If you want a break away in nature and to really relax it is perfect! If you are lucky you will have a visit from the cat that will come and say hello (if you want it to) after last time seeing him we came prepared and bought some dreamies cat treats which he loved.
Thank you, We will be coming back ⭐️😀

Orchard View 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: Beautiful idyllic setting and surroundings. Children loved seeing the animals which were in the field right by our caravan. Nice woodland walk on site. Short drive to local beauty spots and areas of interest both in Herefordshire and over the border in Wales.

Orchard View 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: It was clean

Disliked: There was nowhere to eat in the evenings for our stay (Mon - Wed). Mary didn't bother to reply to the email we sent to advise we were leaving without even spending a single night and there was no partial refund so if you go, make sure you bring food with you and don't expect any money back if you don't spend the whole time there. Would not recommend.

From the manager: I received no e mail from you , I would have replied if I had. I enjoyed meeting you and you paid me when you arrived at Orchard View and you seemed very pleased with it, when you asked about The Red Cow tavern, but just a mile down the road ,you said you had seen it on your way to Orchard V , There was information leaflets etc. supplied , I am sorry that you could not find any where, I am pleased that you found Orchard View clean, I thank you for leaving the note on door which I found regarding you leaving and your reason , some hotels close on a Monday .

Woodlands View 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: The caravan had everything we needed, was clean, tidy and warm. It had extras one wouldn't expect, eg bed linen and towels, which was an added bonus! The owner was very friendly and helpful. Haven't rated wifi as we didn't use it and haven't rated child-friendliness as we don't have children.

Disliked: Nothing.

Orchard View 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked: Affordable and spacious space with all the facilities of a flat. The surroundings are lush and the farm not too noisy.

Disliked: Some of the furniture literally falls apart on touch ie little table in the lounge and one of wardrobe doors which is downright dangerous for you younger children. Don’t rely too much on internet speeds as they’re abysmal, just enough for light browsing but not fast enough for streaming. That’s to be expected for rural areas I suppose.

Your first destinations when on a trip to this site? Dore Abbey (10 minutes’ drive) and Belmont Abbey (15 minutes) to meander around a couple of handsome religious buildings. Next, head to Arthur’s Stone (15 minutes), a Neolithic chambered tomb on a ridgeline with views of the Golden Valley, Herefordshire and the Wye valley below, then get to Grosmont Castle (20 minutes) for a gander at the Norman ruins. Wander to the riverside Weir Garden (20 minutes) before hauling yourself to Hay-on-Wye, one of the area’s best towns, to browse the second-hand bookshops in a sweet settlement known for its annual literary festival (25 minutes). The Waterworks Museum is another intriguing spot – mosey over here to swot up on the history of drinking water, then learn about manmade beverages at the Hereford Cider Museum (25 minutes). Towing the tiddlers along on trips?
