Electric optional hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: You get private facilities as it's a one-van site. The woods are walking distance, practical to walk the dog when arriving/leaving without having to drive elsewhere.

Disliked: When out of the van (and in the woods) I could hear traffic. I couldn't hear it when inside the van, so it didn't bother me for sleeping.

From the manager: Thanks for taking the time to leave a review Alice, it's always appreciated. Glad to hear you got to explore some of the local forest trails with your dogs. ☺️

Electric optional hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: everything, what an absolute gem. i reversed in which gave us a wall on the nearside, a low wall on the offside with a babblingbrook 6 feet below. the other side of the brook was a vast open scrub land. and what was there to greet us, 2 large deer, my grand daughters were sqeeling with delite, and heavan knows how many photographs they took. the hook up cable was neatly hung up in a garage, where there was also a kettle, and the toilet was amazing. i would strongly reccomend this client for an overnight or longer stay. only wish the weather was warmer, we would have liked to do the forest walk but it was bitter. i will stay here again thatsa deffinate.

Disliked: NOTHING.

Electric optional hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: Lovely location with beautiful walks. Vince messaged in advance to say he wouldn't be home so would not be able to greet us on arrival. He explained everything we needed to know in his text, even down to local walks.
The toilet and surrounding area was clean. We were lucky with the weather so we didn't need to use the storage area (fab extra space if needed). Fresh eggs were left for us (thank you). Vince called in to check we were ok when he got back home. We had a lovely weekend, thank you 😊

Disliked: Nothing.

Electric optional hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: This is a great camper stop. On the edge of the forest, my dog and I really enjoyed the walks. We saw wild boar and deer.

The actual pitch, is fenced in with easy access, with views of the forest,
lots of supplied extras.like a 240v kettle.hook up lead.
A covered area for sitting,if bad weather. Washing area ,toilet, fire pit. And table and chairs.
Recycling bins.

We (my dog and i)really enjoyed our stay.and will return.

Electric optional hardstanding motorhome pitch

Liked: I have to admit I have never stayed in a single vehicle pitch before. Initially I was a bit dubious as the pitch is located at the back of some cottages and being used to camp sites this was something new and very different. But it was a great spot for to stay in. The location is perfect to experience most of what the Forest of Dean has to offer. Or if you don't want to get behind the wheel again then the forest is right on your doorstep. Vince the owner is very accommodating and welcoming. We had everything we needed. A place to light a fire. Nice lighting when it got dark. Someplace to sit and enjoy the wildlife sounds that come with such a lovely location. And of course a clean toilet right outside the van. There was a playground just around the corner that the kids enjoyed.

Local attractions

If you’re happy to explore the local area on foot, access the Wysis Way direct from your pitch for explorations of the Forest of Dean or longer tramps to the Severn Vale. Another local walk leads through Edgehills Nature Reserve (40 minutes’ walk) to St Antony’s Well (90 minutes), where you can cool off with a dip in a spring that’s thought to date from medieval times. Slightly further afield, outdoor adventures might take you to the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (10 minutes’ drive) for kayaking trips down the River Wye, or challenging cycling trails that lead to the landmark Symonds Yat Rock (two hours and 40 minutes by bike from your pitch). Looking for days out with the kids? Discover the wacky installations along the Forest of Dean Sculpture Trail (10 minutes’ drive), or the moss-covered rocks and trees lining walkways at the mysterious Puzzlewood (15 minutes), where there’s also a small farm with donkeys to cuddle. When more high-octane activity is needed, involve the whole family in an active day on treetop rope courses and zipwires at Go Ape Mallards Pike (also 15 minutes).
