  • Gloucestershire family campsite with Cotswold Hills views
  • A 15-minute drive to Cotswold Farm Park; 30 minutes to Blenheim Palace
  • Five minutes’ drive to Stow-on-the-Wold; bus service nearby
Along with a spacious grass camping ground (as one might expect of sporting pitches), Stow-on-the-Wold Rugby Club has some seriously eye-catching views of the Cotswold Hills. This site is in a fab location just outside the historic village of Stow-on-the Wold in Gloucestershire, making it a smashing spot for family rambles, touring and gallivanting all over the Cotswolds. From the hilltop pitches you can walk for miles on local footpaths without going near a road (thus making this a cracking base for cyclists too), and if you’re keen to get on the golf course, you can book a round at Naunton Downs Golf Club (10 minutes). Eager to do some city sightseeing but prefer to leave the vehicle behind? No worries, a local bus service leaving from the local village of Oddington (a short walk away) can whisk you off to theatreland in Stratford-upon-Avon (40 minutes) or the dreaming spires of Oxford (55 minutes). Back on site, simple facilities include showers, toilets and a wifi connection (around the clubhouse) so you can keep in touch with the folk back home. Stow (five minutes’ drive) has cafés, bars and a couple of small and handy stores for basics. For more amenities, the best stop is Moreton-in-Marsh (15 minutes) for markets, pubs, supermarkets and indie shops. It’s also got a mainline rail station with services to London.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Clean facilities, friendly staff, quiet pitch with easy access to villages. Nice little play area for kids, lots of wildlife to spot and fab views. Suited us as we met family who were in a motorhome and we're all in the same area.

Disliked Most of the field is on a slope but easily fixed with some extra bedding to prop up one end of the beds.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely, roomy pitch although had to pitch transversely. Wonderful views, great showers and loos.

Disliked Couldn’t find a kitchen so forced to do washing up in ladies loo’s.

From the manager: Hi thanks for visiting us & for leaving a review.

we're sorry you didn't find the wash up area, it is sign posted from the site & is by the social area to the side of the clubhouse, its also detailed in the printed site info handouts in the clubhouse lobby along with the other site info.

Electric grass touring pitch

Liked Good showers. Good toilets - except the ones in the rugby club building which were disgusting. Liked lack of petty rules. Liked the spaciousness and ther quiet - even the first night, which was busy, all was quiet for the night.

Disliked It would be helpful to tell people that the electric hook-up pitches are very sloping. I hven't room in my little camperven to carry levelling blocks; fortunately found a couple of bricks which served the purpose. Saw no staff, so cannot comment.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Yes, lovely location, needed the blocks to level up.
Friendly club house when open. They don't do food themselves, sometimes there's a food truck but don't rely on them.

Disliked Nothing really, apart from the electric hook ups the field is open to pick your own space. Being marked out would be better.
About a mile outside the town, walking on the busy road. We took the van in.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: HI Jennifer, thanks for staying with us & for your review. We certainly wouldn't recommend walking into Stow along the main road, there is a much quieter footpath through the village of Maugersbury which leads into Stow staying off the busy road. There is a map of the footpath in the clubhouse lobby where the camping info is located which is always open.

Really pleased you enjoyed staying with us, hope to see you again!!
