Overview of the site
Grass pitches

  • Award-winning Gloucestershire farm site with Malvern Hills views
  • A 10-minute drive to Tewkesbury; 20 minutes to Gloucester Cathedral
  • Tractor tours of the animals; on-site café and occasional restaurant
Fans of animal antics, step this way… stay at award-winning Elmwicke Campsite and you'll be on a working farm surrounded by a flock of Jacob sheep, a herd of rare-breed Gloucester cattle, and the Pygmy goats Mabel and Martha, plus Bacon the pig. As you can probably tell, this spot in the Severn Vale is a proper rural retreat, with fabulous views of the Malverns and Bredon Hill to boost your Gloucestershire break. Site owners (and carers to all those animals) Jon and Ruth opened up the site in 2012; they're fourth-generation farmers and you’ll see them at some point during your stay, whether that’s welcoming you in, delivering wood, cleaning the facilities or having a good old natter. The campsite is a seven-acre flat field where you can choose your own pitch, and camp together if you’re with friends or family. There’s plenty of space for games of cricket, rugby, football, rounders or flying kites, and the owners are more than happy to take guests on a tractor-trailer ride around the fields to visit the animals. Alongside men’s and women’s loos, the amenities block also has showers and a family room with baby-changing facilities. To help you with keeping everybody clean and tidy, there’s also a laundry area with a washing machine. An on-site café is open for breakfast rolls, pastries and fresh coffee to get you going in the morning, and on some nights you can eat at the pop-up restaurant that's run by a fab local caterer. If you’d rather be self-sufficient, barbecues are allowed on site, and you can order meat packs from the farm, as well as hiring firepits and buying bags of wood, which are delivered daily.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Very clear arrival instructions. Big spacious site with choice of pitches. New bathroom block very clean and tidy. Simple site but perfect for my needs.

Disliked: Lots of narrow drainage ditches running across site. I'm sure these are needed to manage rainfall but could do with some information / warning about them for anyone a bit wobbly on their feet

Liked: This is a really lovely campsite! The toilets and shower rooms were very clean, and it was great that there was a family bathroom we could use together. The camping area itself was flat, spacious, and very well-maintained, with nice grass throughout. Right next to the campsite there were sheep, and we could hear them from time to time — it was really cute and gave a nice touch of nature. Surprisingly, there was no unpleasant smell at all — everything was very well taken care of.

The campsite owner was extremely friendly and welcoming. He even invited us for a tractor ride, which was such a fun and memorable experience for the kids. We will definitely come back again!

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: Good shower block and washing up facilities. Plus there is a chemical toilet disposal and fresh water point.

Disliked: Not a dislike really but the nearest bus stop is half an hour's walk along a fast road with no pavement, or via footpaths and bridleways over farmland. You can walk to a large retail park via Elmstone Hardwicke and the Cheltenham Circular Path/Dog Bark Lane.

Liked: "We had an absolutely outstanding family camping trip at Elmwicke Campsite and couldn't recommend it highly enough! This campsite truly excels in every aspect, making it ideal for families. The facilities are incredible, maintained to an exceptionally clean standard throughout – a true testament to the care taken by the hosts.

The setting itself is simply gorgeous, with beautiful surroundings and the most breathtaking sunsets we've ever witnessed from a campsite. Despite feeling like a serene getaway, it's also wonderfully practical, being not too far from supermarkets and a retail park, which was incredibly convenient for stocking up.

What truly made our stay special was how quickly we felt at home, surrounded by such a welcoming and friendly vibe. The host was incredibly welcoming, making everyone feel truly welcome and included. It's clear this is a truly family-friendly site. We particularly appreciated the little touches that made a big difference: starting our day with an amazing breakfast sandwich and coffee was a real perk, and the kids were absolutely over the moon with the tractor ride – a memory they'll cherish!

For a fantastic family holiday that offers pristine comfort, stunning views, great amenities, and a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere, Elmwicke Campsite is the perfect choice. We can't wait to return!"

Disliked: Nothing at all

Liked: Super site with great facilities. Spotless amenities. Nice, flat pitches. Enough facilities so never had to wait for a shower. Ruth was really friendly and helpful with suggestions for places to visit. Enjoyed my coffee each morning from the cafe. The campsite is convenient for visiting lots of places. I particularly enjoyed Gloucester Cathedral, Chedworth Roman Villa and Miserden Gardens.

Non-electric grass pitch

Liked: The toilet and wash facilities are second to none they were cleaned every day. The fact you can pitch anywhere and anyway you want meant as a group we were able to set up exactly how we wanted. This site is brilliant we would definitely go again but more equip.

Disliked: It seems a very winding campsite so if we were to visit again would take more windbreakers.
There is only a football goal for the children to play so needs more for the children to be kids.

Liked: Everything about this site is perfect. Some of my favorite things include:

- relaxed and rustic, but with everything you need to be comfortable.
- great hosting: Ruth & John were friendly, accessible, welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.
- immaculately clean facilities.
- indoor washing up facilities with fridges and freezers for guest use!!
- plenty of space. I’m not sure if there are designated pitches or not but we certainly felt we had plenty of space, and weren’t on top of our neighbors.
- breakfast rolls: pre-order, turn up, enjoy!
- campfires and BBQs allowed.
- well-behaved dogs can be off lead. You can also hire fire pits and buy wood and kindling.
