  • Right next to Foremark Reservoir; Ticknall pubs five minutes’ drive
Space is what it’s all about at Broadleaves Glamping in the National Forest – with a large slice of luxury thrown in for good measure. The bell tents at this Derbyshire farm sit in a vast camping meadow with far-reaching views, right next-door to Foremark Reservoir and less than five minutes’ drive to the entrance to Calke Abbey Estate in Ticknall village. Each bell tent is kitted out with high-quality beds, linens and fluffy towels. Exclusive-use camp kitchens are powered by solar lighting, and smartly designed ‘proper’ bathrooms are kitted out with showers and luxury toiletries. And human guests are not the only ones that get showers – well-behaved canines are welcome, and there’s an outdoor dog shower so you don’t get muddy paw prints all over your tent. If you’re looking to get active, you can uncover miles of enriching walks through the farm’s managed woodland (those lucky dogs…) and bike rides directly from your cosy temporary home. When you’re hanging out on site, keep everyone entertained with giant outdoor games, and come evening, prep your firepit with firewood from the farm, cook in your outdoor kitchen, drink locally sourced wine and enjoy the complete peace. Should you need to top up supplies, the nearest shops are in Melbourne (10 minutes’ drive). It’s certainly no bother to find somewhere to eat out either; Ticknall, Milton and Hartshorne (all five minutes’ drive, or you can stroll across the fields) have five pubs between them, and you have a choice of eateries in Repton (10 minutes).

Bell tent (hot tub)

Liked: A fantastic glamping site, worth every penny. Cleanliness and friendliness can't be faltered. It was a perfect retreat with extra little touches from our hosts making it one to remember.

There is plenty to do in the area including Calke Abbey for walking, cycling and exploring; located right next to Foremark Reservoir with a fab play park just under a 10 minute walk from the site complete with cafe and lovely walks; we discovered a 1950s American diner that was delicious (gets busy - you may need to book!). If running is your thing, Kerry & Rupert are happy to share local knowledge of good routes!
