  • Family-friendly site a short walk from Willen Lake and Campbell Park
  • Waterside location couple of minutes' walk to Campbell Wharf Marina
  • Pub, watersports centre and adventure park within walking distance
Adventurers Village is a grand place to spend your Buckinghamshire break. That’s particularly true for those bringing kids along – not only does it have heaps of space for them to gallop about, but it’s also handily placed right next door to the fab Gulliver’s Land theme park (so that’s a few days out sorted… as they’ll probably helpfully suggest). There’s plenty to appeal to the grownups here too: all that playing space is conveniently placed to allow for parents to keep an eye on their offspring while putting their feet up on their own patch. Amenities have been added to make life run smoothly, including a parent-and-baby bathroom and a launderette to sort out any mucky pups. That site is a tree-filled peaceful one, but it’s easy to take a break from driving duties as there’s much within easy toddling distance here: lakeside strolls, watersports, fishing and an adventure park are all within a few minutes’ walk, as is a riverside pub. You could even amble the mile or so into central Milton Keynes for cinemas, shops and restaurants, but there’s always the option of flagging down a bus if you’re feeling faint of foot. Want to venture a bit further? There’s plenty more to see and do in the surrounds, and the M1’s only a couple of minutes away – thus making Adventurers Village a super stopover option on cross-country jaunts too.

Electric grass tent pitch (pet friendly)

Liked: Site and facilities really clean. Pitches spacious. Camp warden was a lovely lady.

Disliked: The Pitch Up description is misleading and reads as though it’s a camp site close to Gullivers, however the camp site is actually within Gullivers dinosaur and farm park. We don’t have children and it was definitely a children’s resort, we expected to be on a camp site with lots of tents, not dinosaur themed cabins, we wouldn’t have booked if this had been made clear. It took us half an hour to find it as the postcode given took you somewhere else and when driving around searching we kept ending up at a theme park/resort turnstile entrance thinking there had to be a mistake.
Once in the car park we set off on foot through the turnstiles to reception and realised we were in the right place except we were told that there was no closer access to the camping and that we had to load our belongings onto a trolly. We walked back to the car with a trolly, loaded the trolly in the busy car park, Then had to walk through the resort with our belongings to the camping area which was far away. They only had 1 trolly at the time so we had to take 2 trips. We were Informed that up until last year you could drive in and get closer to the camp site but that the rules have since changed.

On the last day I walked to the trolly area which is at the entrance but there weren’t any. Reception was closed so had to walk all the way back the camp to grab my phone to call the 247 reception number and ask for a trolly. The person advised he had 1 in the restaurant (they sound like a scarcity). I then had to walk all the way back to the entrance to collect the trolly that they had found for me. As there was only 1 trolly I had to do 2 trips to the car again which meant leaving half of our belongings unattended in the middle of the camping area. Not convenient, a lot of effort and very time consuming, wouldn’t have booked if I’d known this was the case.

Flogas lorry filling gas tank up at 8am close to our tent - was really loud.

Fairy Hideout camping pod

Liked: The kids loved wandering around looking at all of the themed cabins.
The toilet facilities were clean, warm and spacious.
Our cabin was exactly as described, clean and cosy.
There seemed to be lots of activities in the evening that we hadn’t expected but we didn’t attend any so cannot comment on the quality of them

Disliked: The instructions for check in weren’t very clear, postcode in satnav takes you past the actual site and to the main Gulliver’s Park car park, it should be made clearer that you need to look for the dino land car park. The Dino land didn’t open until 11am but checkout was at 11 which seemed silly, we probably would’ve paid to go in there if it hadn’t meant hanging around for an hour, so went to a farm ten min up the road for the day instead.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (pet friendly)

Liked: The campsite was clean and tidy, and staff were very friendly and helpful.
It was fairly quiet when we stayed, and felt perfectly safe with two toddlers.
You can access some parts of Gullivers dinosaur land including a small park area and a restaurant into the evening.

Disliked: The laundry lorry collecting and delivering laundry past 10pm was little loud and we felt this should have been completed earlier in the evening.

Woodland hideout camping pod

Liked: Friendly reception staff, good facilities.

Disliked: Plenty of space to park nearby however we were made to park outside of the camping area and in what seemed like a general car parking area a 5 minute walk away, so not ideal for transporting kit etc.

Strange man with broken English turning up to say "What your problem here?", a puzzling encounter that ended up being a misunderstanding and the man was a handy-man looking to fix an issue at a neighboring facility.

No wifi, despite this being listed as available.

Electric gravel and hardstanding touring pitch

Liked: Location is great for walking, lots of parks and lakes, plenty of good pubs. Central Milton Keynes shopping centre is a 15-20 minutes walk through the park.
Pitch was in a good location, quite level and not noisy.
Staff are very friendly and the fresh bread on Saturday was delicious.
Cross keys pub is a 10 minutes walk, the food and garden are excellent.

Disliked: Site looks a bit tired compared to a lot of others we have stayed at, just needs hedges trimming and trees tidied up. Some lodges could do with painting, not that we stayed in them, just a bit of an eyesore when walking around.

Local attractions

What’s that little tug on your sleeve? Could it be the tiddlers encouraging you towards Gulliver’s Land? No surprises there – the place is packed with more than 70 rides and shows, all aimed at fun-seekers aged between two and 13. A log flume, an indoor play area, a runaway train, a maze, an enchanted forest, a cowboy town… it’s safe to say there’s stacks here for the small sorts. And the surrounds are stacked too: take a short walk to Willen Lake for activities both watery and landlubbing. Get wet with freshwater swims, wakeboarding, windsurfing or a go on the inflatable obstacle course, or keep your powder dry with hours of walks, archery, fishing, miniature railway rides and treks on the treetop trails. There’s a multitude of Milton Keynes cultural doings nearby too – the site is a few minutes’ drive from shows at the Milton Keynes Theatre and historic collections at the Milton Keynes Museum, and about 10 minutes from Bletchley Park, where you can get up to speed on the exploits of the World War II codebreakers.
