What customers say

A well-maintained, friendly, and peaceful small campsite. Visitors praised the clean and spacious facilities, including hot showers. The on-site cafe, farm shop, and bar were popular highlights, offering good food and local produce. Many appreciated the quiet rural location, level pitches, and the car-free camping field. Minor criticisms included occasional issues with bin fullness and the price of some on-site amenities, though the overall experience was highly positive, with many recommending a return visit.

Lawson's Lane non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Friendly, warm and helpful welcome. Good level pitch with plenty of space for awning, tables and chairs. Close but not too close to facilities. It will be even better once separating hedges have matured a bit to provide extra privacy from neighbours. Quiet and peaceful location.

Disliked Would prefer cubicles with basin to be able to wash without need for full shower. There are basins available in the shower block but as it is unisex, there is no privacy.

Liked The location and facilities on site were great! Not too busy, the showers and toilets were very clean and the fire pit provided was great fun. The cafe has nice food, and staff were lovely.

Disliked Limited camping supplies in the shop, but wasn't an issue for us.

Lawson's Lane non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Small-and friendly site - not over commercialised.
Felt safe, space for the tourer Edna the Eriba was great. Quiet night, low key, good shop, excellent breakfast and cafe. Bar looked good and hot tub was in use .
Showers and toilets were clean and adequate. Cars were parked anway from the camp ground which was good a good wheelbarrows for anll the stuff ! Only stayed one night just wished we had more time to explore and stay longer .

Old Apiary Field non-electric grass tent pitch

Liked Really enjoyed staying here. Just what I needed after a long day of walking. Appreciate you allowing us to pitch up elsewhere rather than in the middle of a group which our booking places us. Especially liked the farm cafe. Breakfast was delicious!

Lawson's Lane non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Clean facilities
Level pitches

Disliked the site rules clearly state that vehicles are not permitted on site (unless camper vans) AND dogs must be kept on a lead at all times. Neither of these rules were followed by the owners and that’s what we found particularly disappointing. A quad bike was driven relentless around the site after all the other guests had departed, long after operational duties had been completed. The quad bike was driven around to exercise a dog running free. The dog fouled my pitch which clearly went unnoticed by owner. It gave the impression that because the weekend crowd had gone, those rules — and our comfort — no longer mattered.

Local attractions

Ease yourself into your escape slowly by setting off on walks through the Chiltern Hills (five minutes’ drive). This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a 324-square-mile chalk escarpment running from the River Thames in Oxfordshire to Hitchin in Hertfordshire. Highlights here include Wendover Woods, a Forestry Commission collection of trees with fitness and cycling trails, while four miles away (and 15 minutes’ drive from the park) is Aylesbury with its hodgepodge of Georgian, Jacobean and Tudor architecture. Browse the Bucks County Museum’s local history and culture exhibits, making sure to stop by the Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery for displays championing the characters from the novelist’s books. Just outside the town, wander around Waddesdon Manor, a French-inspired chateau with gorgeous gardens, or turn back the clock to the 1940s at Bletchley Park (40 minutes), the country house where the Allies broke the enigma code during the Second World War. If city trips are what you fancy, set off for the compelling colleges of Oxford (35 minutes) or the spectacular sights of Central London (an hour and 20 minutes).
