Dog-friendly and well-suited to families too, this place isn’t just about water activities (although that’s a big tick in the box, of course). There’s also a large green area for guests to unwind under the open sky and a whole host of other facilities…
This park is one where you can play games at the tennis courts and soccer fields and then wash any grubby garments in the coin-operated washing machines and dryers. There are supermarkets, bars and restaurants across the resort, so guests can go straight from the pool and onto the soft drinks and tasty nibbles. If you’re in need of any extra entertainment for the kids, just head to the mini club.
The main attraction, however, might just be the large waterpark, which has waterslides and indoor and outdoor pools. The indoor pools operate year-round, while the outdoor pools are open between May and September.
Out and about, your activities might involve visits to ruined castles, drinking wine and dining out at wineries or restaurants in the surrounding towns or taking a cultural excursion across the border to Zagreb, 50 minutes’ drive away from the site. As for any golfing fans, there’s an 18-hole golf course 10 minutes’ drive away too.

Llocs d'interès
As with much of Slovenia, you’re never very far away from some stunning landscapes to explore – places near to Terme Čatež Sonce include Jovsi (15 minutes’ drive), a natural park with endangered species and traditional farming techniques, and the alpine area around the Žumberak and Samobor Mountains (half an hour), where you can hike among the karsts and look out for wolves, bears and birds.
There are some fabulous buildings to visit nearby too, including 16th-century Brežice Castle (five minutes), the dramatic hilltop ruins of Samobor Castle (20 minutes) and baroque Lužnica Manor (half an hour). If that’s not getting the kids enthused, try a trip over the border to Park Znanosti (45 minutes), where the fun science-based exhibits mean they might not even notice they’re quietly learning stuff too…
While you’re in Croatia, it’s also worth spending some time in Zagreb (50 minutes), exploring the two parts of the Old Town, visiting the cathedral and wandering around the surprisingly evocative Museum of Broken Relationships.
