Woodland walks, dune scrambling and lake dips are all on the menu for guests at De Pier Recreatie, thanks to its fab location on the edge of the Bedafse Bergen nature reserve. And for those who favour a good dollop of variety in their holiday activities, this corner of the Brabant region has plenty else to keep you amused, including the museums of ’s-Hertogenbosch and Eindhoven, and family-friendly days out at Dierenrijk zoo and Efteling theme park.
There’s much to enjoy on site, too, particularly for the small sorts: they can swing, slide and climb ropes at the playground, meet the friendly residents at the petting zoo and hook up with like-minded souls for all manner of activities (building forest huts, perhaps, or cosying up indoors for crafts and cooking).
Also rather enticing is the outdoor pool area, with a paddling pool and waterslide for the tiddlers and a spacious surrounding terrace for the sunbathers. No cracking the ice for dips here – the waters are heated to ensure happy splashing even on chillier days.
Feeding needs are taken care of by the site’s cosy restaurant, where drinks, meals and snacks are served up out on the terrace on finer days.

Llocs d'interès
It’ll only take you a few minutes to walk or pedal your bike to the splendid Bedafse Bergen nature reserve to walk, cycle or ride horses through the woods and dunes. Bikes can be hired on site if your car was too crammed to cart yours along. De Maashorst nature reserve, the Groene Woud and Kraaijenbergse Plassen are other nearby areas worth exploring if you fancy more walking/biking options.
Cultured types will do well out of days spent in s-Hertogenbosch’s museum quarter, at Heeswijk Castle or pottering around the art and folklore collections at Eindhoven Museum – all are within a half-hour drive.
Family-friendly days out in the area include the Brabant Nature Museum, Dierenrijk zoo and Efteling theme park. De Pier guests can also pick up free passes to Hullie play park, a 10-minute trot from the site, for hours of fun at the indoor and outdoor play areas, including laser games and adventure golf.
