Take life easy on your Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur break – the tents at Koko Holidays at Domaine de la Noguière are all set up ready to move into, and equipped with much of what you’ll need for a comfy family holiday. Beds and a kitchenette are provided in the tents, along with other handy bits like a table and chairs – and with all those essentials sorted you can get straight down to the main business of your holiday time: the fun part. And what a spot this is for plenty of that… this family-friendly site on the edge of Le Muy (and about two kilometres from its town centre amenities) is surrounded by woodland and flower fields, with lovely scenery beyond that lends itself well to walks, mountain bike rides and canoe or kayak trips. The Mediterranean coast is close by too, with the beaches and attractions of Fréjus and Saint Tropez 20 and 45 minutes away respectively. You’ll want to allocate a good chunk of time to on-site activities too – particularly the excellent pool area, with several waterslides and a covered terrace where the grownups can relax with a drink while keeping one eye on the kids. Snacks and full meals are available here too if you’re not in the mood to use your kitchenette (although there’s also a shop if you do feel moved to cook). Elsewhere around the site, there’s a pétanque court, a multisports pitch, a playground, a games room and a fishing lake, along with kids’ activities running through the summer months.

You can’t possibly come this close to the Côte d’Azur without hitting the beach, can you? Fréjus (20 minutes’ drive) is the closest of the main resorts, with a zoo, amusement park and the Aqualand waterpark as well as a couple of long sandy beaches. For further seaside outings, head to the glitzy settings of Saint-Tropez and Cannes (both 45 minutes) or seek out quieter corners in Sainte Maxime (25 minutes). Away from the coast there are more peaceful areas to explore – the accommodation here looks out over the limestone peaks of the Massif des Maures, so walks and mountain bike outings through lavender fields, olive groves, forests and valleys are close by. Some top picks to visit nearby include Gorges du Blavet (10 minutes), Cascades de l’Aille (25 minutes) and the hike up Mont Vinaigre (50 minutes). Post-hike, treat yourself to a more gentle stroll around the village of Fayence (35 minutes), known for its pottery artisans, or sip samples at one of the local château wineries (Château d’Astros, Château d’Esclans and Château de Cabran are all within a 20-minute drive).
