A lakeside Limousin setting – how splendid. As the name hints, Camping du Lac de Mondon is right next to a 15-hectare lake, where peaceful times prevail, and is in the Haute-Vienne department for further chilled-out times alongside the Benaize river.
Need a little more than pretty views to keep you going? Land yourself at the site facilities for days on end instead: you can take your pick from lounging/hurtling around the outdoor pool with slide (closed on Mondays for cleaning) while the kids get energetic at the big play area, or borrow a book or board game from reception to get stuck into on the grass, or avail of the wifi at reception to see where in France you ought to go next…
The site also has a bread service and a laundry room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Do you feel you really really must iron clothes while on hol? If oui, make straight for reception where you'll find everything you need.

Camping du Lac de Mondon has easy access to local hiking and cycling trails and the lake next to the site has pedal boats for hire. Both tennis and archery are available close by for a small charge.
If you're a foodie – and who wouldn't be in any part of France – make it your mission to tackle as much of the local cuisine as poss, such as the traditional clafoutis and hazelnut cakes, all washed down with Limousin cider and – maybe – walked off afterwards with the geocaching activities available in the area courtesy of Haute-Vienne's Terra Aventura.
Other nearby popular places to visit are the medieval village of Saint-Benoit-du-Sault, 13km away, and the Creuse town of La Souterraine within 18 kilometres.
The site's nearby town of Cromac is a 55-kilometre drive from Limousin's capital Limoges, which is well worth a day trip to see its cathedral, art museum and the botanical garden.
