It’s all about location, location, location at family-run Landsker Camping, a spacious family-friendly site at Canaston Bridge in Pembrokeshire. As well as a spectacular setting in roughly 10 acres of young woodland, you have the added bonus of being 10 minutes’ drive from big attractions like Picton Castle Gardens, Wild Lakes Wales and Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo. With views over peaceful countryside, the generously sized, flat grass pitches are sheltered by trees and spaced out for extra privacy (they’re also dotted by wild flowers in spring). You’re welcome to explore the woods, and let the kids splash around in the stream. For family adventures or exercise with any doggy chums, a footpath from the site leads directly to the 60-mile, looped Landsker Borderlands Trail, and 10 minutes’ drive has you on the trails through Canaston Woods. Facilities on site include a toilet block, showers and a washnig-up area. There’s a firepit on every pitch, so pick up barbecue essentials in the market town of Narberth (10 minutes’ drive – there are lots of restaurants and pubs there too). This area is known for its fabulously dark skies (and associated excellent stargazing) – that means torches are advisable for after-dark manoeuvres.

Em va agradar: The couple running the site went above and beyond and were very friendly. The site itself is very clean and tidy with lovely secluded spots to pitch up. Everything about the site was perfect and the trees provide excellent shelter from the elements. Will be back again very soon

Em va agradar: This is the perfect campsite. Each plot lives in its own meadow separate from the other guests, but a communal area (showers (warm), toilets, kitchen and games) keeps it sociable.
A short drive to Narberth which is a beautiful village with lots of independent shops offering high quality food drink and goods. Tenby is only 20 minutes drive away.
Beautiful wildlife! We saw kestrels directly overhead, bats each evening and even shooting stars, to name but a few!

No em va agradar: If you're looking for a more lively experience i.e. a club house, then this won't be for you.

Em va agradar: This is a very special site offering large, level secluded pitches. Of which we had our pick.
Fires permitted and wood provided free was an added bonus.
Simple and hygienic wash rooms.
Undercover area with seating for washing up complete with two fridge freezers and charging point.
Games available for all weather and ages.
In a great location to explore the beautiful Pembrokeshire coasts.
Wonderful & welcoming hosts that left us to it to enjoy but were available if needed.

No em va agradar: Distant sound of traffic, possibly louder as we we're in the top pitch.
However, it didn't bother us but I thought it only fair to mention.

Em va agradar: Absolutely love this place! Found it because I wanted a nice place to camp without being too close to others. This is ideal. The pitches are quite private, we was lucky enough to be able to choose our own as it was as it was quiet. Handy area to wash up pans and also really nice toilet and shower rooms which are clean. Owners are very nice down to earth people who are friendly and very helpful. I will definitely be back, I see the work gone and going into this place. Its very well thought out. Perfect, we'll be back!

Em va agradar: The owners were lovely, with Phil giving us great suggestions on where to go/what to do while we stayed. The site was clean, easy to navigate, and very peaceful with incredible stargazing and birdsong each night and morning. Firewood was provided as part of our price paid, and they kept us well topped up with whatever we needed to keep warm.

No em va agradar: Hard to nail down any dislikes! The pitches were on ground that doesn’t drain perfectly after a heavy rain, meaning it can get a bit muddy. Didn’t bother myself and my friends one jot, but if you were bringing dogs/children I could see it becoming an issue. Having said that, this could be an issue unique to our stay as the weather was a bit all over the place!!

Em va agradar: We loved every minute, the campsite was magical and our pitch was amazing and felt very private it was like camping in the woods but with all the amenities, such as lovely clean toilet/shower block, fire pits, wood and even marshmallow kits available. The children loved everything there and it felt so safe that I could let the kids explore. The owners are so lovely and made us feel so welcome even our crazy goldendoodle! Thank you so much for our perfect little break.

So will it be the lions, tigers and zebras at Manor Wildlife Park, or the vintage fairground and animal barn at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (both 10 minutes’ drive) first? And don’t worry, there’s plenty more to do locally. The waterslides and coasters at Oakwood Theme Park (five minutes) for starters, or perhaps you can lose the kids (and find them again, of course) in Picton Castle Escape Rooms (10 minutes) – and don’t forget the photogenic remains of 12th-century Llawhaden Castle (five minutes) make a lovely spot for a picnic. For family rambles in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, head for the tree-lined paths of Minwear Wood, or follow the Cleddau Trail (both five minutes) along the course of the river. And for action-filled days out, the floating inflatable climbing course, wakeboarding sessions and climbing wall at Wild Lakes Wales (10 minutes) or the mountain-biking tracks at Llys y Frân Country Park and Reservoir (20 minutes) should fit the bill nicely. There’s more family fun to be had on the Pembrokeshire coastline too, with sandy beaches at Tenby (25 minutes), Saundersfoot and Amroth (both 20 minutes) for rockpooling and sandcastle building.
