Looking for a comfy base with a touch of luxury to go with countryside views and scenic walks? Waydown Shepherds Huts is a peaceful glamping site in the West Sussex countryside, a few minutes’ walk from the tiny village of Pyecombe and a 15-minute drive from Brighton. Active times are easily accessed here: the site is sandwiched between a golf club and a horse riding stables, and you can walk straight out onto the South Downs Way or pick up other footpaths for pleasant hikes through the South Downs National Park. The famed Jack & Jill Windmills are less than a mile away, and Devil’s Dyke is three miles away. The site’s also conveniently located for everyday amenities: within a 15-minute walk there’s a small supermarket, farm shop, café and country pub. Each of the smart, hand-built huts has comfy beds and a woodburning stove inside, and a barbecue, firepit and outdoor seating for alfresco evenings. A short walk away are the shared facilities: a toilet hut, a shower hut and a kitchen hut that’s been kitted out with a small cooker, microwave, fridge and plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils. Elsewhere around the site live resident donkeys Nancy and Dudley – they’re very friendly so feel free to give them a bit of a pat as you pass.

Em va agradar: We had a great time at Waydown. Andrew was really helpful giving information about how to reach the camp site walking.
Everything was ready, the electric heater was on, we had milk, sugar, coffee and lovely cake in our hut.
Well maintained and clean site, kitchen well equipped. Very comfortable bed.
The location is very convenient, 2 minutes walk to South Downs national park, with lots of trekking options.

Cabana de pastor Bathing Machine Hut

Em va agradar: The owner is very friendly, explained how everything worked.
Loads of hot water and everything else that was needed, pretty Shepherd's hut, Christmas cake and mince pies were also very tasty and a welcome treat after a very windy walk along the South Downs.

No em va agradar: It is close to a busy road, but you quickly get used to it

Cabana de pastor Woodkeeper's

Em va agradar: Everything! This was a great find and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Andrew was a superb host, taking time on our arrival to talk us through all the facilities, local walks and surrounding area. He was available if we needed anything. The views are really beautiful. We stayed in the Woodkeepers Shepherds Hut and it was perfect for the 3 of us and a dog, with it's own private garden. It had everything we could need between the shepherds hut and the little separate kitchen hut. We were welcomed with wonderful homemade cakes and fresh flowers which is a really lovely touch. The log burner was much appreciated at the end of December and heated up the hut super fast! Plenty of wood and more available if needed. We didn't use the BBQ but it looked impressive. Lovely little firepit which we did use. A highlight for us was Dolly the horse. The hut was next to a paddock and she regularly came over to say hello, and treated us to some magnificent showing off moves! The two donkeys were also gorgeous and came to say hello one evening too. The toilet hut and shower hut were spotlessly clean. Great location just 15 mins from Brighton. Thank you Andrew and Vicki, we hope to come back.

Cabana de pastor Riverkeepers

Em va agradar: Owner was very friendly and explained all the facilities available. They have a horse and donkeys which are incredibly friendly, especially the horse. Well equipped cooking&bbq facilities, really good hot shower, nice play area for kids and dog friendly. The hut is beautifully decorated, the homemade cakes are a wonderful touch. Right by the South Downs and easy access to the coast.

No em va agradar: Close to a busy road but the noise insulation for the hut is good.

Em va agradar: Lovely place. Calm and tranquil and the hut was cosy and well equipped. On the South Downs Way within a couple of minutes. Owners were very helpful and courteous and knowledgeable about the local area.

If the kids are in tow, Washbrooks Family Farm (10 minutes' drive) has a variety of animals to get acquainted with, as well as tractor rides and play areas; if you’re after something more adult-focussed, there’s wine tasting and vineyard tours at Albourne Estate (10 minutes). Less boozy, but equally scenic, walks can be had at Sussex Prairie Garden (10 minutes), an eight-acre garden surrounded by oak trees. If you like to be beside the seaside, Brighton is 15 minutes away, with its famous pier full of arcades, fairground rides and snacks – or take to the water for some paddleboarding, kayaking or wakeboarding. Gawp at marine life at the Sea Life aquarium or get a good look at Brighton and the south coast from the British Airways i360, an observation tower on the seafront. A lunchtime stroll through The Lanes should present plenty of food and drink options alongside record shops, vintage picks and bookstores. Lewes (15 minutes) packs a culture punch thanks to its landmarks, including Lewes Castle & Barbican House Museum, the 16th-century Monk's House, Anne of Cleves Tudor House and the Charleston house, garden and gallery. Opt for a day at the races at Plumpton Racecourse (15 minutes), or travel slightly further afield to Drusillas Park zoo (25 minutes) or the Bluebell Railway heritage line (25 minutes) for more family frolics.

Admissió

Els menors de 18 anys han d'estar acompanyats pels pares o tutors legals.
Només podreu entrar al càmping després de registrar-vos a recepció.

Arribades i sortides

Les arribades tardanes s'han de notificar al càmping al més aviat possible. La vostra reserva queda garantida durant 24 hores. Un cop passat aquest temps, la direcció es reserva el dret de rellogar la vostra unitat.
Les parcel·les o els allotjaments s'assignaran en arribar al càmping.
No s'ofereixen reembossaments/descomptes per les inclemències metereològiques, les arribades tardanes ni les sortides anticipades.

General

En cas que tingueu alguna queixa, parleu amb recepció de seguida. Aquelles queixes que no hagueu presentat a l'administració durant la vostra estada no es podran resoldre un cop hagueu marxat del càmping.
La direcció es reserva el dret de refusar l'accés o posar fi a l'estada d'aquells hostes que presentin un comportament inapropiat. En tal cas, no s'oferirà cap reembossament.
Les ràdios, els reproductors de música i els televisors s'han de mantenir a baix volum. Les portes i els maleters dels vehicles s'han de tancar amb cura.
Les reserves són personals i intransferibles.
S'ha de respectar el silenci absolut entre les 23:00 i les 7:00.
