It’s all about location at High Oaks Grange, a North Yorkshire glampsite on a private estate in the North York Moors National Park, for it is just five minutes’ drive from both the lively market town of Pickering and Thornton-le-Dale – a thoroughly Insta-worthy village with a stream running through it. Set in 60 acres of gorgeous countryside, the stylish and cosy glamping pods can sleep up to four guests and offer a quiet hideaway for families or couples looking for some ‘us’ time. Each one comes with a Smart TV, radiator to combat all weathers, natty space-saving ensuites and modern kitchens with all the trimmings – in short pretty much everything you require for a rural self-catering stay. Thoughtful extras include all bed linen and towels, wall pockets containing lighting, plug sockets and USB ports, wardrobe space, shoe storage below the sofa and lush toiletries in the shower room. Outside, each pod has decking with outdoor seating and a barbecue; around the estate there’s also a playground for kids and a dedicated 20-acre field for exercising any visiting dogs – two are allowed per pod and they will be provided with bowls and canine treats. There’s parking for one car per pod, and the site is uber-secure, thanks to its gated entrance.

Cabana pod

Em va agradar: Such a secure and peaceful setting, the amenities in the pod were spot on, very clean, the welcome pack and information emailed before helped plan, the park for the kids was great. The bunk beds were very cute, the girls loved them and they were tucked away well enough that we could watch tv after they went to bed.

No em va agradar: We struggled to get more than a day’s worth of food in the fridge. The bed was super-soft which didn’t do our backs any favours, but that is personal preference. The WiFi didn’t reach our pod, the furthest from reception. 5G signal was enough though.

Cabana pod

Em va agradar: The grounds and the fields were well kept and lovely scenery

No em va agradar: Kitchen tap was loose
Temperature of said kitchen tap erratic.
Shower was lovely and hot -stayed constant temperature however my pregnant wife found it a little too hot and couldn't reduce the temperature.
Could do with bigger mirror.
Could do with a small coffee side table next to the sofa.
Could do with having seat cushions on the outdoor chairs.
Would be handy to have a tether point on the outside decking for those with dogs.
There was nowhere to hang the bathroom towels, could do with some hooks in the bathroom or cabin.

Em va agradar: Everything we needed was there included complementary milk. Lovely to tie the dog on a long lead and he could wander around the pod. Very peaceful venue as I’m a nurse who works nights so I’m permanently tired . I slept like a log. Comforting to know the site is so secure. The whole site is very well cared for not a blade of grass out of place. Lovely walk into the village and got the local bus back.

No em va agradar: Nothing really we don’t particularly do hot tubs so booked a pod. Even the weather was amazing.
