If views of swaying sunflowers and distant pleasure crafts on the river Waveney doesn’t already paint a pretty picture of Feather Down Farm Days – College Farm, wait until you hear about the sheep, lambs and cows around every corner. That’s not to mention the Norfolk coastal towns and beaches within driving distance (like Southwold, 35 minutes’ drive away). This working farm site is on the southerly tip of the Norfolk Broads. Siting in the site's south-facing areas, the sails of pleasure crafts pootling along the river Waveney can be spotted in the distance. The owners, Marcus and Lucy Daniels, enjoy getting to know their guests and have created an off-grid adventure without electricity or wifi. This is a place to play without phones, but don’t worry, parents, as there are charging points in the honesty shops on site. Join the farmer on a tour of the farm to meet and feed cattle and lambs and collect chicken eggs and see how many new friends you make among the other families on the farm. A communal pizza night is also on the agenda. Those with an active disposition can get involved in horse-grooming and the safe cycling available up and down the field. On the nearby river Waveney, guests can mess about in canoes and boats with oars or get out their fishing rods. Set within the Waveney Valley, outdoorsy sorts can also pull on their walking boots and follow any one of the marked routes within the valley. An indoor play barn with hay, a large trampoline and slides and swings are also on site. Another option is to tune into the role of chief birdwatcher, picking up views of wild birds through a pair of binoculars.
