Colehurst Lake

Whether you’re after a family-friendly glamping holiday or a romantic weekend away, they’ve got you covered at Colehurst Lake. Set in Shropshire countryside near the town of Market Drayton, this peaceful spot is surrounded by fields and woodland. It’s also a smashing choice for anglers, with two spring-fed pools heavily stocked with carp, roach, perch and the occasional pike – even if you’re not into fishing, Colehurst Lake is a quiet spot ideal for relaxing, picnicking or reading a book. You can source supplies in Market Drayton (10 minutes’ drive), which also has a handful of tearooms, pubs and restaurants if you’re too chilled to cook – and by the way – some of the local takeaway restaurants also deliver to the site. The Shropshire Union Canal is a smashing spot for gentle family walks and picnics on sunny days to watch the boats chug past. For any rainy days, Shrewsbury (30 minutes) has cinemas and many places to eat, drink and make merry. It’s a town steeped in history with Tudor and Georgian architecture, and you can potter around the indie shops or walk along the Severn river, stopping off in Quarry Park for a refreshing cuppa. Back on site, facilities include a kids’ play area with climbing frames and swings. Showers, composting loos and washing-up areas are on hand too.
