Hedsor Field Camping is in one of those enviable spots that’s surrounded by gorgeous countryside and yet handily set for easy access from the motorway. Beaconsfield and the M40 are both five minutes away, and both the M4 and M25 about 15 minutes away, but the outlook is firmly rural at this Buckinghamshire site on the edge of the Chiltern Hills, just between two well-established woodlands. Being in that particular spot also means a stunning view down the valley of the River Wye, a protected chalk stream. ​ There’s plenty of space around on site from which to take all this in – 13 acres, in fact, with a dedicated open space and a wildflower strip that’s quite a haven for butterflies and birds. And it’s a laidback kind of place too, welcoming kids and dogs and permitting the lighting of barbecues and firepits for sociable cosy evenings. There are also five pubs within walking distance, the closest being a 10-minute stroll away. Facilities on site include flushing toilets, an accessible toilet with baby change station, four showers, a washing-up area and mains drinking water. A footpath from the site leads to a big park with a play area for any kids that need somewhere to let off steam; it's also possible to walk to a play farm and golf course too. There's plenty to keep you occupied in this part of the world (farm parks, National Trust properties and walks, for example) but if you fancy a proper change of scenery this is a nifty location for day trips to London (from Beaconsfield station). We welcome small peaceful groups and families to the site. I am afraid we cannot take large group bookings.
