  • Family-run Moray farm site in a Speyside woodland setting
  • Beaches, forest walks, golf course and Malt Whisky Trail all nearby
  • Woodland trails and kitchen on site; firepits for hire
Have a quiet relaxing time or a more adventurous holiday…The Loft in Moray is suitable for all tastes. Active sorts have plenty to keep them busy nearby, including whitewater rafting, sailing and surfing over at the coast, exploring the countryside by bike or taking a tour of the region's numerous whisky distilleries. For more chilled times, hire a firepit for lazy hours in the evening, or spend days out exploring walking trails that run around The Loft's grounds and the surrounding countryside. Amenities at this secluded wilderness site are in a converted Nissen shed, which houses a kitchen, showers, toilets (including accessible facilities) and a baby changing area. Hot water and cold drinking water is available here too, and there are more facilities up at the main reception building if required. Local shops, pubs and amenities are five miles away in Forres, and Elgin is within 15 minutes' drive. Beaches, forest trails and a golf course are all within a few minutes' drive as well, as is the Malt Whisky Trail for those in search of top tipples.

All-season electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Really great site, super quiet (I did stay in Mid-March) so it was just the wildlife and farm animals in nearby fields for company. Great kitchen and shower block, the kitchen meant I didn't have to do any cooking in the van which I appreciated. Warm shower, everything was really clean. Check in super easy. Host was really helpful when needed. I would definitely stay again, within 10min drive of amazing Findhorn Bay.

Camping pod (family)

Liked: Peaceful place. Park for children is great especially the hidden one in the forest on the hill, beautiful walks on the farm, great play room ( barn) for rainy days. Cosy pod. Very well kept shared facilities. Great bathroom, clean shared areas, very nicely kept site. Easy to check in and out, very well signposted.

Disliked: Loved it as it is.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Great spot and pitch

Disliked: Woman’s shower was ice cold

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Hi Katie, thank you for your lovely comments on your pitch and our site. I'm so sorry to hear the shower was cold during your stay. We were notified by another guest that morning that there was no hot water in the Nissen Shed block, unfortunately our whole hot water system failed and we needed to get a new boiler fitted which we did luckily manage to get done that day. We did try to get see everyone onsite to explain but you had already left. I'm so sorry this was your experience, we usually have plenty of hot water and do have showers available on another area of the site. I hope we can welcome you again.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The pitch was secluded with a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and we arrived to find all the materials we ordered for a camp fire waiting at our pitch. The showers and toilets were clean and in good working order. The campsite was quiet and the few other campers we saw were very friendly. We had a lovely, peaceful, relaxing stay and would definitely come back.

Non-electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: The Loft always delivers. They allowed the group to have adjacent pitches, allow campfires and welcome dogs... What else can we ask for? Ah, yes, clean showers and toilets...spot on, as always.

All-season electric grass tent or motorhome pitch

Liked: Great views from the site. Lovely spaces for tents. Fun goat feeding opportunity each morning. Toilets were clean. Conveniences available in the kitchen area. I didn't use them but could have used the kettle, toaster, hob and freezer for ice blocks. I thought this was very helpful.

Disliked: We moved pitches after arrival as couldn't access the power hook up, but Victoria was accommodating and moved us quickly to the next pitch. Could do with another shower for use for each bathroom as sometimes had to wait.

Electric grass tent, campervan or trailer tent pitch

Liked: Beautiful campsite, clean and well maintained pitches, excellent facilities with wonderful owners! We had a fantastic time on this gorgeous site, the barn with sofas, table tennis table and pool table was great and the park and fairy trail were perfect for entertaining our granddaughter who absolutely loved her stay too. Great location with loads to do in a short driving distance, a special place and would recommend it to anyone wanting a quiet and friendly site.

Disliked: Nothing at all to dislike at all.

Local attractions

Stage your own mock battles at Culloden; the battlefield and a modern visitor centre are half an hour’s drive away. History buffs will also find plenty of castles and moody standing stones to clamber around. Moray’s mild climate and low average rainfall mean there’s a good chance of making the most of the fabulous golf courses, sailing, sandy beaches, forest trails and awesome mountains – you can even take to the slopes during the ski season. Amber nectar aficionados will also be interested in making the rounds of the renowned whisky distilleries nearby: everyone’s heard of Glenmorangie, Glenlivet and Glenfiddich, all easily doable from the site, but with half of Scotland’s malt whisky distilleries located in the Speyside area of Moray, there’s no shortage of options, including two beauties close by in Forres. If you don't know where to start, or want to get a comprehensive overview, hit the Malt Whisky Trail for a planned route around producers large and small.
